Thank you for your assistance and understanding in this matter. On behalf of the Board , management & staff of NRL WA I would like to welcome you all to Dorrien Gardens for the 2017 Smarter than Smoking Grand Final Day. Today is the culmination to another progressive year for our code in WA, despite the challenges of a tough economy which has placed added pressure on our clubs, volunteers and other stakeholders in the Rugby League community. Having said that , we have seen some outstanding football played at both senior and junior levels, and the best will go head to head today as they face off for Premiership glory. In the elite arena we have seen the Rabbitohs, Storm, Manly Sea Eagles & NZ Warriors all play in Perth as we eagerly await the big RLWC Double Header at nib Stadium on November 12th _ England v France & Wales v Ireland . We also get a special bonus when Wayne Bennett’s star-studded England team finish off a 10 day pre RLWC camp in Fremantle with a warm up game against the CAS [Combined Affiliated States] team which will contain 10 West Australian players. This game will be at nib Stadium on Friday 20th October [kick off approx. 6.30pm ] the night before the England squad fly to Melbourne to prepare for their World Cup opener against Australia. We can also look forward to the NRL Telstra Premiership Round One Double Header at the new Perth Stadium on March 10, 2018 featuring the Rabbitohs & the Canterbury Bulldogs hosting two yet to be announced opponents. Locally , our gratitude to all the dedicated volunteers, coaches, trainers, referees, officials and club committees who continue to generously & vitally contribute to the sustainability and growth of the game in our state. Also to all those fans, players - men and women, as well as Life Members who have over the years laid the foundations on which the game continues to be built in Western Australia. Our sincere appreciation also to our loyal sponsors and partners without whose funding we could not fuel our game ,in particular our longest serving ally Cash Converters, Heathway – proud sponsors of the Smarter than Smoking Premiership & our Referees, the WA Government through its Department of Sport and Recreation, Lion, AGI, Struddys, DDH 1 Drilling, Fleetwood and ISS, All Flags Signs & Banners, Hammond Legal, Blueforce and Peak Body Fitness. Today’s NRL WA Smarter Than Smoking Premiership Grand Final will follow in the footsteps of the thrillers, rollercoasters and nail-biters that have been a part of Rugby League history in Western Australia for the past 69 years. To date Fremantle have taken the title on 5 occasions as compared to the Rockingham who are looking at their second title. Good luck to both teams in their quest to be Premiers for 2017.
