Dedication I would like to dedicate this book to my godfather, Jean Guérin, who lost the battle of his life a year ago, but will remain in our memories as a symbol of kindness and acceptance, tolerance and love. Acknowledgments Thank you Sang Hee, for all your support, wonderful meals, and back rubs when they were needed the most. I would like to give thanks to the following people for their help and support throughout the writing process, and for putting up with my caffeine-induced personality at times: Andy Shafran, for taking a chance; Stacy Hiquet, for keeping things running smoothly; Jenny Davidson and Todd Jensen, in Acquisitions at Thomson Course Technology PTR; and Kevin Sullivan of Argosy Publishing and Linda Seifert during the editing stages. To everyone I’ve contacted throughout the writing process, including Steinberg’s staff (Lars Baumann and Arnd Kaiser, as well as Greg Ondo who technically edited this revision): your help is appreciated and this book would not have been possible without your support. Merci à tous! About the Author Robert Guérin has been a composer for the past 14 years and a music enthusiast since 1976. He has worked on varied personal and commercial projects such as feature and short films, television themes, and educational and corporate videos. Composing, arranging, playing, recording, and mixing most of his material, he has developed working habits that allow him to be creative without losing a sense of efficiency. As a professor, Robert has put together several courses covering a wide range of topics, such as: computer software for musicians, digital audio technologies, sound on the Web, sound in multimedia productions, hard disk recording, and many more. He has been a program coordinator at Trebas Institute and a part-time professor at Vanier College, both in Montreal. Robert has developed online courses on sound integration in Web pages and has written articles for audio- and music-related online magazines. Robert is also the author of several books and CSi CD-ROMs from Course Technology, including Cubase® VST Power!, MIDI Power!, Sound Forge® 7 CSi Starter, and ACID® 5 CSi Starter, and co-author of Nuendo® Power!
