FOCUSSING ON EXCELLENCE & SUCCESS MAY 2017 BOSSLEY BIZ NEWSLETTER Athletics Carnival School Dance Ensemble (Anzac Day Ceremony) BOSSLEY PARK HIGH SCHOOL FOCUSSING ON EXCELLENCE & SUCCESS MAY 2017 Principal’s Message Dear Parents and Carers Bossley Park High School will transition to the new NSW public schools’ finance system and a new bank account on 24 July 2017. To ensure a smooth transition, there will be changes to the way we accept parent or carer payments. 1. Direct deposits: As of 30 June 2017, we will no longer accept direct deposits into our current school bank account as we prepare to close this account and transition to the new one. Any payments made using direct deposit after this date cannot be properly allocated to a student’s account in a timely manner. Please ensure you have made any outstanding direct deposits before 30 June 2017. 2. EFTPOS payments: We will not be able to accept EFTPOS payments between 19 July and 24 July 2017. Please ensure that you have made any outstanding EFTPOS payments before 19 July 2017. From 25 July 2017, EFTPOS payments will be accepted as before. 3. Cash and cheque payments: Between 19 July 2017 and 24 July 2017, we will also not be able to accept payments by cash or cheque as we prepare to close our current bank account and transition to the new one. Please ensure that you have made any outstanding cash or cheque payments before 19 July 2017. From 25 July 2017, cash and cheque payments will be accepted as before. Students and our dedicated staff have been out and about winning ribbons at the Easter Show, travelling to Houston Texas for World Championship Robotics competitions and competing in elite sporting events across the globe. We are very proud of all of our students and thankful to have such dedicated staff. Some of the highlights you will find in this issue, but you can see more images and videos on our social pages, facebook, twitter and our new instagram page: @bossleyparkhs. Make sure to follow us for regular updates. We have also just signed up for a new school app which will be your one stop shop for all things Bossley. We will be in contact shortly with information on how to login to the school stream app. A reminder also that Parent Teacher Night is coming up for year 11 and 12. You will need to book appointments via the parent portal which can be accessed via our website. There will be a presentation at the next CSG meeting which all parents are welcome to attend on Tuesday the 16th 6.30pm in the staff common room. There is a picture of the team departing from Sydney airport for the longest flight on the planet, 15hrs straight to Fort Worth, Texas. They then caught a second flight down into Houston for the competition in a huge exhibition centre where they tell us it was a 5 min walk from their home base to the competition arena, and what a playing field, it may look chaotic but the students knew exactly what they had to do. We were team 6434 and in a great alliance. The team ended up being 64th overall but 3rd for a Rookie team which is a huge achievement for their first time. After the competition finished they didn’t waste any opportunity to visit other interesting sights like the Natural History Museum and of course NASA’s Johnson Space Centre, the home of ground control from the moon landings. We are very pleased that these student’s got to have such a great learning experience and encourage others to get involved and take part in future programs. We would also like to acknowledge our excellent students whose work is still being exhibited around NSW. Ms Ager and the Visual Arts staff (pictured) have attended yet another Artexpress opening night, where the work of 2017 HSC student Mariam Abrim was on show. It will continue to tour through regional galleries for the rest of the year.
