Stop by the Fairgrounds Community Building’s back porch and meet local artists on Wednesday, Aug. 21, from 1-4 p.m. Displays will show some of the artists’ work created from spinning, knitting, bead- ing, bobbin lace and more. All of our local artists enjoy talking about why and how they created their work so the back porch is a great spot to meet some of Northern Michigan’s talented people. Along with the crafters, there will also be a farmers’ market section. Be sure to give the lo- cal fruit and vegetable treats a taste and cast a vote for your favorites. 9 THURSDAY, AUGUST 22 Country-Blues Star Rockin’ His Own Brand Michigan native Frankie Ballard, a country-blues rocker now based in Nashville, is bringing his tour north this summer for the headline act at the fair Thursday, Aug. 22, at 8:30 p.m. The singer songwriter has had three No. 1 country hits to date and boasts Spotify streams in excess of 2.2 million.
