Profile: Kampala, Uganda – One Stop Youth Resource Centre Location: Kampala, Uganda Partners: City of Kampala, UN-HABITAT Donors: Government of Norway Theme: Youth Empowerment; Sustainable Urbanization Introduction zThis presentation is an overview on the status of Kampala One Stop Youth Centre. It highlights what has been achieved, the role of partners and the implementation design of the project. Areas of Intervention zEmpowerment through Entrepreneurship zReproductive Health zGovernance and Advocacy zInformation and Communication Technology zEnvironment and Conservation zSports and Culture zResearch Location zThe centre is located at Kabalagala near Kampala International University on a 2 acre piece of land that belongs to the youth of Kampala. zKCC will construct a storey building to allow integrated services be accessed by young people. zConstruction process has started zA container has been acquired, partitioned, windows and doors fixed. (Existence of youth structures at national and district levels (NYC, Youth MPs, KDYC). zSupport and willingness/positive attitude of both the beneficiaries and the implementing partners about the project. zThe knowledge and skills among young people. Challenges and constraints zGeneral delay of implementation zHigh expectations from both partners and the beneficiaries. zDelay in signing of MOU zFailure of KCC to recognize project ownership. zLimited resources from partners especially KCC, the major implementing partners Funding gap zOur budget has a gap US$100,000 Centre users zThe centre is for young people between the age bracket of 15 – 30 years. zAll young people without discriminating shall have equal access to service regardless of their sex, origin and religion.
