Geographical Scope of thé Elément This élémentis widespreadail aver Iran. 4. Communities, Groups, Bearers & Practitioners Rural people ofthé northern part ofIran especially in provinces ofGilan, Mazandaranand Golestan. In addition, thé Zoroastrian communities in some parts of Iran such as provinces ofTehran, Yazd, Kerman, Shiraz, Zahedan, Alborz and Khuzestan. 5. Information about thé Elément Due to thé key feature of cultural diversity in Iran and its strong influence on émergence of rituals in thé country, Mehrgan is celebrated in several methods that are ail equally authentic. On thé one hand, among thé religious ethnie groups ofZoroastrians, according to their formai andnational calendar, théurban form ofthis ritual is held from thé luth (thé second ofOctober) ofMehr to thé 16th (8th ofOctober) ofthis month in Tehran and Shiraz. On thé other hand, according to thé Zoroastrian traditional calendar, regardless ofthé intercalary, this ritual enjoys a rural form that bas been observed in villages of provinces such as Yazd and Kerman. In thé urban style, spécial rituals and sub-rituals are practiced such as worship and prayer, thanksgiving, performing arts by children, playing music and singing songs by women and girls. Thé rural style, known by thé various titles ofGesht-e Mehr, Gesht-e Izad Mehr, Gesht- e Bahman, certain rituals such as rice- and thyme-throwing at thé doorway of Zoroastrian homes, house-keeping, hosting guests, welcoming thé groups of bearers and practitioners with mirrors, collecting nuts and pomegranates, speakingup thé names ofthé performers' ancestors and thé deceased and requesting God to bless their soûls, sacrificing sheep, playing musical instruments such as Dafand singing folk songs. In addition to thé Zoroastrians, Iranian rural communities hâve also celebrated thé harvest ceremony from thé 21st of September to thé 21st of October. They harvest some agricultural products suchas rice andpomegranate in a number ofprovinces such as Gilan, Mazandranand Golestan. Thébearers and practitioners ofthis rite include peasants and gardeners. In this vast and extent région, différent forms ofthis ritual and its sub-rituals are seen including indigenous forms of coopération (Kàyàr, Yàvari and so on), hospitality, cooking food such as Barkat Pela (blessed rice), rural dance, music and songs, local wrestling, rope pulling, slacklining, sending decorated and colorful trays of gifts to local close relatives, new-married couples, hanging decorated reaped crop of rice as thé symbol of blessing and abundance on thé inside wall of home. It should be added that during thé harvest ceremony thé villagers prépare thé grounds for weddings and pilgrimage. In one ofits sub-rituals, pomegranate gardeners of villages of Anbouh and Nodeh, Gilan, choose two days from 20th to 25th of October (month of Mehr in thé Iranian calendar) to celebrate their harvest. This form of ritual embraces includes thanksgiving, attending religious and ritual places such as Hosseinyah and shrines, sheep sacrificing, hospitality, setting table cloth, doing traditional exchange of goods and products, setting up local and rural bazaars. In ail différent forms of this ceremony, praying God for blessing and abundance plays an important and salient part as a key component. Thé contents ofthé above-mentioned forms are based on cheerfulness. Mehr god is thé symbol of blessing and abundance in some sources such as Mehr Yasht, 12th Yasht ofAvesta, thé holy book ofZoroastrians. This is a god who is known asthé holder ofextensive plains and fields as thé key symbol ofabundance and blessing. In thé Islamic ritual that belongs to Muslims, ritual subjects and célébrantstake part in shrines and Hosseinyah for praying God. 6. How thé élément is transmitted? This élémentis mostly transmitted through traditional master-student relationship. 7.
