Off Center Harbor Houseboat Design contest Large Houseboat By Terry Mason. The Program: This Houseboat is primarily inspired by the Canal Barges of Europe and the Houseboats of the US West Coast. I imagine this houseboat in any number of Harbors or Ports. Summers in Maine or Year-round in a warm climate. The total Square footage of 745 sq./ft. would be adequate for a full-time residence for two. I could see this vessel moored-out, or like the Canal barges it could be in a slip or berth. The living would be very simple, possessions would be kept to a minimum. Power would be provided by solar panels/battery/ generator. The large area at the Bow, and built-in seating would design make for a great place for a party or Barbecue.
