The Award will be presented to the Village at the Federation’s annual awards dinner scheduled to be held on Thursday, June 7 . The Village of Ossining Architectural Design Guidelines is a comprehensive document containing architectural design recommendations and best practices for commercial and residential structures within the Village. The Guidelines are the product of collaboration between Stephen Tilly Architects, Inc of Dobbs Ferry and the Village Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals, and Historic Preservation Commission, along with Village Planning Department staff. The Guidelines focus on the Village's Sparta and Downtown historic districts, the residential neighborhoods surrounding these two districts, and the commercial corridors located on Routes 9 and Route 133. If your property is not located within these areas, you will still find the recommendations to be useful in planning your project. To view the Village of Ossining Architectural Design Guidelines go to the Village website at www.villageofossining.org and click on the tab on the left marked Architectural Guidelines. The Village Board is seeking applicants to serve on the Historic Preservation Commission, the Board of Ethics. For additional information on either of these Boards or to send a letter of interest contact the Assistant Village Manager, Christina Papes at 16 Croton Avenue, Ossining, New York 10562, [email protected] or 941-3554. Kudos and thanks to the Ossining High School Band: The Central Committee of Organized Veterans of Ossining and the Ossining Boat and Canoe Club would like to thank the OHS Band for the excellent performance by members who volunteered at the May 20 th veteran’s ceremony and commissioning day. Each spring the Central Committee pays tribute to those lost at sea during a ceremony at the Ossining Boat and Canoe Club. A wreath is placed in the river by a local Boy Scout from a club member’s boat, the veterans provide a gun salute and taps, and local elected officials with club members are present to help the Central Committee honor those who served our country. The band members’ performance was flawless and we are very grateful for their support in paying tribute to our veterans. We hope everyone will be present on Memorial Day with our OHS band and the Central Committee to honor all those who have served our country.
