In recent years, the legislature has decided to get lean and mean with the local government appropriation process. Both the Florida House of Representatives and the Florida Senate have strict rules andT regulations regarding local municipalities receiving State funds. The past several legislative sessions have been challenging for many munici- palities; many local governments continue to do what they have always done expecting a different result. Our team of elected and appointed officials and City Legislative advo- cates all travel to Tallahassee to sit face to face with key decision makers in both the Florida House and Florida Senate. This advocacy strategy has been instrumental in our success. Our ongoing efforts have led to North Miami Beach receiving close to a million dollars for sewer projects, historic preservation and park enhancements.
