What the! • AJ2022 is introducing overnight “Expeditions” to the Jamboree Program • Individual Scouts will be able to select their Expedition preferences • Additional to the regular Jamboree Patrols, Units will need to organise their Scouts into “Expedition Patrols” • This task is to be completed by the Unit Council before the Jamboree • More detail to come later in today’s sessions Unit Phone Code Example PLAN> -We have arranged (minimum) 2 devices per patrol -We have planned a way of charging our devices -Our patrol has arranged a roster, so we always have an active device -We have arranged how these devices will be stored at camp DO> -We respect our fellow Scouts privacy and do not take or post unwanted images -We are present at the jamboree and not here on our devices -We follow our roster so that we don’t leave our Patrol deviceless -We treat our fellow Scouts devices with respect - We respect our leader’s discretion when it comes to our devices - We take responsibility for any lost, damaged or stolen devices and take precautionary methods to prevent such occurrences REVIEW> - Phone usage is reviewed at Unit Council LANGUAGE OF THE JAMBOREE • A Jamboree Unit is the large grouping of about 6 patrols of Scouts, Jamboree Unit supported by about 4 Scout Leaders, that camp together, eat together, and manage welfare and activities together. • A Jamboree Patrol is a small group of Scouts within the larger Jamboree Patrol Jamboree Unit. Jamboree Unit • A Jamboree Unit Leader is a Scout (youth member) who has a Leader leadership role in the Jamboree Unit. Jamboree Patrol • A Jamboree Patrol Leader also has a leadership role in the Unit, with Leader the specific leadership responsibility of their patrol. New ProgramJamboree Scout –• Let’sA Jamboree speak Scout Leader is Jamboree the leader in charge of a Unit’s adult Leader leader support team. Jamboree Line • A Jamboree Line Leader is a member of the Unit’s adult leader Leader support team. Jamboree Activity • A Jamboree Activity Leader is an adult leader who is part of a Leader Jamboree activity team. They are not normally attached to a Unit. Jamboree Service • A Jamboree Service Leader is an adult assigned to a service function to support the conduct of the Jamboree. They are not normally Leader attached to a Unit. • The activities and entertainment provided for Scouts by AJ2022. Patrols will have the opportunity to “design their own Jamboree Program experience” selecting from the available program choices provided 2 – 3 months before Jamboree • Previously known as “On Site Activities”, Adventure Bases are But wait; Adventure scheduled half-day bases on-site at Elmore. there’s more • Previously known as “Off Site Activities”, Expeditions are full-day or overnight (2-day) bases at sites remote from Elmore (typically within Expedition 1 ½ hours by bus). Participants will select their preferences for the overnight Expedition before Jamboree • Previously known as Sub-Camps or Campsites. At AJ2022 there will Community be 3 Communities for Scout camping, a Venturer Community and an Adult Community for service and program leaders Jamboree Unit Leader Role Description The Jamboree Unit Leader is in membership of the Unit leadership team along with Jamboree Scout Leaders and Line Leaders. They will serve as an advocate for youth and will communicate with Viccon youth members, Jamboree Scout Leaders and Line Leaders and to improve the Jamboree experience. As this is the inaugural role, it may be subject to change as the process continues. I want to Jamboree Scout Leader • Recommendation from relevant Scout Commissioner-Region and State Scout sign up .
