YLE Media - Joining Forces with Commercial TV Stations to Succeed and Monetize on OTT

YLE Media - Joining forces with commercial TV stations to succeed and monetize on OTT Jari Lahti, Chief Strategy Officer at the Finnish Broadcasting company, YLE Media, will be speaking at this year’s Nordic Media Summit, sharing the broadcasters’ story and strategy behind why they have chosen to join forces with a commercial broadcaster in Finland in order to create a satisfying and successful OTT video service for the Finnish consumers. Recently a lot of criticism has been aimed at public service providers in the Nordics and their role in the Internet TV landscape. Offering content for free when other providers have to charge consumers makes it difficult for privately held broadcasters and other Internet TV providers to survive and grow. Finnish public service provider, YLE Media, has chosen the solution of joining forces with commercial TV-companies in Finland, a service that was launched in June 2013. Jari was responsible for the joint venture. At Nordic Media Summit, he’ll share their experience, results, reason for going in the direction of partnering with commercial broadcasters and more. Jari and YLE Media are joining in on a list of high profiled speakers from the industry of online video and OTT video services in the Nordics and beyond. The temperature will be hot and the debate even hotter when speakers from NRK, SVT, YLE Media, Fox International channels, YouSee, VOD professionals, Ostmodern, Sky Deutschland and more take on the debate of the evolution of OTT – what’s next!
