Standing Together Maryhurst Annual Report 2O16-2O17 1 FROM THE CEO A family for every child. Your gifts and support in 2017 helped usher in a new strategic direction for Maryhurst – one that places a central focus on bringing the permanency and stability of family relationships to each child we serve. We believe that strong families are the foundation of healthy growth. We know that children have the best chance for success when they are surrounded by a loving and caring support system, so we’ve taken tangible actions to bring such relationships to more youth throughout Kentucky. By partnering with the Alliance for Strong Families and Communities and the Building Bridges Initiative, Maryhurst has amplified our statewide efforts in family-focused advocacy and policy. Within our own operations, expansion of the Maryhurst Renewal counseling program has strengthened our offerings that prevent abuse and preserve families. Our residential programs and therapeutic foster care continue to involve biological and fictive families as a key part of treatment. Overall, the number of children and families we serve grew nearly nine percent from our last reporting period. As we grow, we promise to never falter in our mission to provide hope, empowerment, and restoration to the vulnerable kids and families of Kentucky. As we begin our 175th year in this community, I am reminded of the countless number of young people and families that have been impacted, first by the Sisters of Good Shepherd and now by our board and staff. This work would not have been possible without all of you as volunteers, supporters, and benefactors. I am grateful for each of you, and I celebrate your involvement as we continue to do this important work. Thank you, as always, for standing together with us in this journey of hope.
