NORMANHURST CRICKET CLUB 2006-2007 ANNUAL REPORT Presentation Night 11 May 2007 1 Annual Report 2006-07 PRESIDENT’S REPORT Well what a season, 4 grand finals and 2 victories. Well done to the Under 16 Red and Under 13 Black for winning their grand finals. Congratulations. I would like to congratulate all players, coaches and managers on representing Normanhurst Cricket Club in such an upstanding fashion. It is YOU that gives our club its reputation as one of the best in the area. Thank you for the example you set to other clubs. I would like to thank all coaches and managers for their fantastic job getting players on to the field and making their cricketing days the weekly highlight. Thanks also to the Normanhurst Cricket Club Committee for all their hard work in getting teams on the pitch, you guys and girls do a wonderful job. I hope all had a wonderful season and hope to see you all next year. Cameron Riddett Normanhurst Cricket Club President DATES FOR YOUR DIARY Annual General Meeting: Wednesday 6 June starting at 8pm, Pennant Hills Bowling Club Current office bearers will briefly report on the year’s achievement at the AGM. If you wish to stand for a Committee position please notify the Secretary (Jaye Waldegrave). If you want an issue raised at the AGM please notify Jaye in writing by May 16 so that all members can be made aware of the topics for discussion. Come to the meeting to support the future of the club. Registration 2007/08: Saturday July 28 and Saturday August 4, Club House, Harris Road WANTED: Junior Co-ordinator After many years of involvement Anthony Maxworthy is looking for a break from this role. Now is the time for someone to raise their hand to be Junior Co-ordinator for 2007-08. Ideally this will be someone who is keen to dedicate a couple of years to the role, so that means someone with a child or children from U/13's down, and with an interest in fostering the game and the club. Through the hard work of many over the past 12 years Normanhurst juniors has grown into the third largest junior club in the association.....this is a position we all hope to maintain. 2006-2007 Committee President Cameron Riddett Secretary Jaye Waldegrave Treasurer Matthew Pietsch Registrar Sue Haertsch Equipment Officer John Kerr Webmaster Nikhil Kulkarni Senior Co-ordinator Cameron Riddett Junior Co-ordinator Anthony Maxworthy Sponsorship Anthony Maxworthy Social Coordinator Rocco Giaquinto Page 2 Annual Report 2006-07 SENIOR’S REPORT It was always going to be hard to match last years results…… we tried with 4 teams in the semi-finals, and 2 in the grand final. Congratulations on all teams for efforts on the park. I must thank all players for the way they have conducted themselves whilst playing in the RED & BLACK of Normo. It is a privilege to be associated with you, to play along side, well done. Congratulations to century makers: Nishad Kulkarni, Andrew Walker, Brennen Smart, Tom Green, Mitch Magrath, Nathan Ryan, Matt Darwas & Adam Whitlock. Also to Matt Salisbury who took 8 for 57 in an innings, and John Acheson who took 10 for 85 including 7 for 38. We must thank all those players that filled in at some stage throughout the season. This included around 30 juniors who filled in, and just as many “mates” that helped out sides when they were short. Without you guys we would not get full teams on the park each week. Big thanks must go to Rocco Giaquinto. Rocco ran the senior trainings very efficiently this year making sure everyone received a bat. His enthusiasm, passion and love for the game is inspiration to us all. Cheers Rock. Hope you all enjoyed the season as much as myself, and have fun during the off season. Cameron Riddett Senior Co-ordinator JUNIOR’S REPORT If we were a club that only gauged its success on winning Premierships, we’ve had an ok year. But, fortunately most people in our club, including the committee, base a successful season on participation (kids and adults), growth, skill improvement and enjoyment. This season has seen Normanhurst junior cricket continue to flourish. Our teams represented Normanhurst in all ages, except the Under 14’s, and again we had strong representation in Have-a- Go, Under 9’s and Under 10’s. It was especially pleasing was to see three Normanhurst teams compete in the Under 16’s. At an age when young guys are thinking about doing things other than spending their mornings on the cricket, and are leaving the game, we ended up with an additional team. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who gave their time to coach, manage, score, umpire and submit results. Your efforts are what makes Normanhurst the cricket club that it is. Also to the parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends who have attended games to support the kids, many thanks. I’m sure you got a lot of enjoyment out of seeing the kids having fun. As mentioned elsewhere in this report, I will not be looking after junior cricket next season. We need someone with a child or children involved in the club to volunteer to take on the junior co-ordinators role. I will be around to help, but I will definitely not be available to do the role again. If you are interested please contact me if you have any questions about what’s involved. In finishing, congratulations should go to two of our teams. The Under 16 Red and Under 13 Black teams won their respective competitions. Well done boys, particularly to the Under 16’s as this is their last year of junior cricket with Normo CC – Congratulations!! Best wishes Anthony Maxworthy Page 3 Annual Report 2006-07 ANNUAL AWARDS AND TROPHIES Swan Family Trophy Awarded to the most improved school age cricketer Cameron Allen The Max Allen Memorial Shield Awarded to a member of the oldest school age team who displays outstanding sportsmanship Pat Ferrara The Rob Aldersley Memorial Trophy For outstanding service to NCC junior and senior teams (Donated by Mrs Calypso Aldersley in memory of her son, Rob Aldersley, 1986-2003) Jason Maxworthy The Wal Braunack Trophy For outstanding fielding – Senior’s cricket Rob Magrath The Golden Gloves Wicket-Keeping Trophy Donated by the Skulander family Steve Smith 2006-2007 Cricketers of the Year Junior Lachlan Ford Runner up: Tom Foreman Senior Brennen Smart Runner up: Mitch Magrath Team of the Year Under 16 Red Donated by Bruce Wood, Club President, in 2000-01 THANKS TO OUR SPONSORS The committee would like to thank Pennant Hills Bowling Club for their support during this season. During this past season Normo CC held a number of events at the club, including Junior Life Member Award Bruce Wood photos, our father and son bowls day, the senior presentation dinner, and tonight’s junior presentation night. The gathering of senior players on a Saturday afternoon at the club, where many stories of the day’s events can often be “slightly” exaggerated, continues to be popular. We encourage everyone to make use of their PHBC membership, if you don’t currently have a membership card please fill out an application form available tonight – Normo CC will cover the $10 membership fee.
