2009 Team Guide Red dRaGONS FOOTBaLL NJAC Title and Lambert Award Among 2008 Season Highlights Cortland enjoyed one of the best seasons in school history during the 2008 campaign. The Red Dragons finished 11-2, including two victories in the NCAA Division III tournament before losing at eventual national champion Mount Union in the quarterfinals. Cortland also won the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) title with a 9-0 record. The program has finished at least tied for first in the NJAC standings each of the last four years and is a combined 26-3 versus league foes during that span. Following the season, Cortland received the Lambert Meadowlands Award as the best Division III team in the East and was chosen as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Team of the Year. Head Coach dan macNeill was voted as the NJAC Coach of the Year and was one of five finalists for Liberty Mutual Division III National Coach of the Year honors. Eric Hajnos tied a school single-season record with nine TD receptions, including two scoring catches in an NCAA second round win versus Curry. Offensive tackle Sean James earned first team American Football Coaches Association All-America honors and was Cortland players and staff celebrate after clinching the NJAC title and an automatic selected as an Associated Press Little All-American. berth into the NCAA Division III playoffs with a victory at The College of New Jersey. The Red Dragons finished 9-0 in league play and won two NCAA tournament games.
