The event that took place a day or more before I was able to arrive Wolf Motorsports Magazine began in January when I was on the way to the Grand National Roadster Owner: Jeffrey A and Heather D. Friday Morning January 25th I did just that. I couldn’t pick up my media credentials until 10am, so I decided to stop for a quick bite to eat in downtown Pomona then drove a few miles to East Grande for my first stop of the trip. So-Cal Speed Shop had their retail section open for visitors from all over the world there to check things out. Pete, Jimmy and the gang were getting ready for the show, so the shop was closed, however, I was able to get a quick shot of the entry way to the shop before the door was closed. I took a quick photo, wiped the rain water off of my feet and went in to check the place out. So-Cal Speed Shop was established in 1946 and founded by the legendary Alex Xydias. So-Cal Speed Shop is now run by Pete Chapouris. These guys produce some awesome traditional hot rods and now have shops in Arizona, Las Vegas, Pennsylvania, Oregon, Sacremento and Western Canada. The engine is 355ci which uses Wold Products racing heads, Crane gold roller rockers, forged crank, solid lifter roller cam and TRW forged blower pistons. It also a Weiand 671 blower with dual 600 Holley carbs and Hooker thermal coated fenderwell headers. The drive shaft is custom 6061 T6 Aluminum and puts the power to the ground via a 9” Ford w/Detroit Locker running 4.11 gears. The interior is black diamond tuck seats and door panels, Moon Eyes gauges, red window tint and a powder coated roll bar. The paint is 3 stage candy red w/gold base. The lettering is hand applie and is real gold leaf. The wheels are ET Gasser 15 x 4-1/2 up front and Torque Thrusts out back measuring 15 x 10. 16 www.wolfmotorsportsmagazine.com 17 This Willys Gasser is currently owned by Dave Clark and raced from ‘66 to ‘69 in the B/Gas class. It was driven then by Fred Teixeira and ran a best time of 10.38@ 131.96 MPH. This my friends is the coveted AMBR award 18 www.wolfmotorsportsmagazine.com 19 “Bitter Sweet” is this gorgeous ‘33 Ford Roadster owned by Harold & Tracy Chapmen from Andice,Texas. It is powered by a killer detailed Roush 427 backed by a Tremec TKO600. 20 www.wolfmotorsportsmagazine.com 21 V-8 Flyer is owned by James Farley out of Leominster, MA. The quality of design and workmanship of this nice little ‘32 Ford Roadster is off the charts. Under the hood is so clean that it just sparkles as you can clearly see for yourself. The interior is done up right and the overall package wowed the spectators as well as the judges. 22 www.wolfmotorsportsmagazine.com 23 The 2012 Americas Most Beautiful Roadster award went to Bill Bill Lindig also owns this ‘32 Ford Chopped 3 Window Highboy Lindig and his ‘27 Ford Roadster Indy V-8. This hot roadster was built Coupe. It’s powered by a 304 ci Blown Ardun Ford Flathead built by by Pete Chapouris and the crew at So-Cal Speed Shop in Pomona, Cal- Art Chrisman. The awesome wheels are by Curtis Speed Equipment. ifornia. This car has a long racing history. It was originally built by racer and race-car builder Jack Howerton almost 15 years ago. Lindig had been watching and wishing to own this roadster and fi- nally bought it after waiting for 12 years. The purchase was completed in 2007. So-Cal Speed shop worked on it for 4 years and it was selected as the 2012 AMBR winner by the judges at the Grand National Roadster Show in 2012. 24 www.wolfmotorsportsmagazine.com 25 Here is George Poteet’s Rad Rides by Troy Built ‘69 Ford Torino Talladega.
