It will begin at 7 pm. It’s for those who desire Hearing As s is tance Update any kind of healing to happen in their own lives or in the lives of their loved ones. It’s about physical healing, emotional healing, spiritual healing: and even healing over those things that we might not even know needed healing. It is calling upon the mercy of the Lord. While we submit everything under the will of our Heavenly Father, He does desire to break through with the miraculous. Sometimes in His mercy, He grants precisely what we seek; other times, also in His mercy, He blesses us through ways that are not so obvious. Let us not think that we “bother” our Lord with our requests nor think that we are beyond His mercy. Maybe you have grown weary in asking? Then come and just ask the Lord to receive all that He wants you receive that evening. By now, the system should have been ordered. It’s supposed to arrive in about 2 - 3 weeks. It would then need to be installed and calibrated for the church. As it currently stands, the system would help 4 parishioners per Mass to receive hearing assistance. If the system works and there’s a need for more receivers, we will certainly look at purchasing more. The cost of the system thus far was $1800. MSP Update After having gone through the Parish Visioning Day on June 30th, input has also been gathered from the online surveys distributed through Flocknote. This weekend, parishioners, who were not able to attend the June 30th PVD or were not able to fill out the electronic forms, will be given an opportunity to provide their input through paper surveys. Before that, there will be an opportunity to offer prayers of reparation to Our Lord Jesus, truly present in the Blessed Sacrament. The Holy Hour of Reparation will begin at 6 pm. One of the biggest obstacles that we can find ourselves contending with is our ego. This lack of humility before God acts as a hindrance to the mercy of God. And sometimes we are not aware of it. We may have good intentions and think all is well; yet, underneath it all, there is our ego, our pride, still pulling the strings and barring us from receiving the graces of God to its fullest. So, if you are able, please join us for the Holy Hour of Reparation, that we may pray that our Lord Jesus find consolation in our prayers and offer reparation for ourselves and for others. This week our Parish Visioning Team will begin the process of aligning the parish mission, vision and priorities with Unleash the Gospel. We will hear from the Archbishop and be encouraged to create goals to give us a road map of how we expect the ideas from each Synod Proposition to flourish. Vacation Bible Adventures From Monday to Thursday, our children will take part in VBA. This year’s theme is “Roar! Life is wild. God is good.” It’s about exploring the goodness of God and building up bold faith to help them through life! In your kindness, remember them and all the volunteers in your prayers. He was quoting the Old Testament Law of <ul style="display: flex;"><li style="flex:1">Leviticus </li><li style="flex:1">and </li><li style="flex:1">Deuteronomy </li></ul><ul style="display: flex;"><li style="flex:1">(Leviticus </li><li style="flex:1">19:18, </li></ul>Deuteronomy 6:5, 10:12). Jesus commended him for speaking these words. But then the scholar asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” Jesus responded by telling him the familiar story of the Good Samaritan. The story of the Good Samaritan is one that should wake us up to some not-so-pleasant truths about love of neighbor, or the lack thereof. First, a priest and a Levite walked by the beaten and suffering man on the side of the road and ignored him, passing on the opposite side of the road. Then the Samaritan walked by, was filled with compassion, and went out of his way to help the man. Vouchsafe to recommend it to your daughter, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and lay it before the throne of Jesus. Cease not to intercede for me until my request is granted. Above all, obtain for me the grace to one day meet God face to face, with you and Mary and all the angels and saints, praising Him through all eternity. Amen. O Good Saint Anne, so justly called the mother of the infirm, the cure for those who suffer from disease, look kindly upon the sick for whom I pray. The conclusion is obvious. We should be like the Good Samaritan who showed mercy to the man in need. On an intellectual level it is easy to conclude this fact. However, in practice, it is not always the case. Alleviate their sufferings; cause them to sanctify their sufferings by patience and complete submission to the Divine Will; finally deign to obtain health for them and with it the firm resolution to honor Jesus, Mary, and yourself by the faithful performance of duties. It’s interesting that Jesus used a priest in the story as the first person to walk on the opposite side of the road. One thing this tells us is that too often we seek a so-called “exterior holiness” while, in truth, we lack authentic “interior holiness.” The priest can be seen as a symbol of those who claim to be Christian on the surface but fail to live their holiness in their actions. Without living true love of neighbor, we are frauds and do not live up to our sacred calling. But, merciful Saint Anne, I ask you above all for the salvation of my soul, rather than bodily health, for I am convinced that this fleeting life is given us solely to assure us a better one. I cannot obtain that better life without the help of God's graces. I earnestly beg them of you for the sick and for myself, especially the petition for which I am making in this novena: Reflect, today, upon the difference between exterior and interior holiness. The ideal is that your inner life is so completely consumed by the love of God that it overflows into your exterior actions. If your love of God is not fully alive within the depths of your heart, there is no way that you can, in fact, be truly holy. (State your personal intention here) : through the merits of our Lord Jesus Christ, through the intercession of His Immaculate Mother, and through your efficacious and powerful mediation, I pray. Amen. Lord, help me to authentically love You with my whole heart, mind, soul and strength. Help me to have such an honest love for You that it also overflows into my love for others. It’s that time of the year for our annual parish blood drive, to be held Thursday, July 25th from 12:30 to 6:30 pm in gym at St. Michael. Our parish has been exceedingly generous in year’s past, and my prayer is that we can continue to do the same in 2019. In preparation for your day of donation, there are several things you may want to consider: HEALTH MINISTRY 1.. You can schedule your donation online at redcrossblood.org with sponsor code StMichaelArchangel. Scheduling helps to eliminate wait times and puts a well-deserved premium on your time 2. You are donating during the heat of July. While the parish and school do their best to keep the gym as temperature friendly as possible, please be prepared. Pre-hydrate with lots of water 24 hours prior to your donation and eat well. Try to limit caffeine, alcohol, and tobacco consumption prior to donation. Finally, plan to continue hydrating after donation for at least 24 hours. 3. Refreshments are offered after donation. Take advantage of the opportunity to rest briefly prior to leaving. Make sure the dressing at the donation site is clean and dry, and that you feel okay to drive. 4. If you meet the Red Cross’ specifications, you may consider a “Power Red” donation, where you give 2 units of blood. It takes slightly longer, but your donation touches twice as many people. If interested in Power Red donation, my suggestion is to call and schedule your donation. May 13, 2019 5. Finally, if you can/cannot donate and are available, please consider volunteering to assist at the drive for 1-2 hours. Volunteers are needed to register donors upon their arrival and to maintain the canteen for those who have donated. Sign-up for volunteering is available at the east entrance of the church or call the parish office at 734-241- 8645. The American Red Cross has a critical shortage of type O blood and urges eligible donors to give now to help patients facing trauma and other life-threatening situations. Right now, the Red Cross has less than a two-day supply of type O blood available for emergency rooms, where it can be most critical. That means just six units of type O blood are available for every 100,000 people, but at least 14 are needed every day. While just 7% of the U.S. population has type O negative blood, it can be transfused to patients with any blood type and is what hospital staff reach for during emergencies when there isn’t time to determine a patient’s blood type. Type O positive blood is the most transfused blood type and is also critical in trauma situations. Feas t of St. Bonaventure Do you ever get stuck with the tough jobs? It's well known that the Franciscan Order was incredibly influential throughout history. But one of the most challenging times for a new movement is surviving the death of the founder. Bonaventure joined the Franciscan Order almost two decades after the passing of St. Francis. Initially, the young man's theological insights earned him a prime faculty position at the University of Paris. More than his academic skill, however, he was known for his deep devotion to Christ. He was elected the General Minister of the Franciscan Order, right in the thick of controversies. Some friars had conflicting views of how to interpret St. Francis' poverty as the order grew. Others started a new heresy, saying that the Franciscan Order began a new era of the Holy Spirit, replacing the era of Jesus and the authority of the Church. St. Bonaventure weathered these crises with grace, restructuring the order when necessary and offering a more organized perspective on the insights of St. Francis.
