We are indebted to the owners of these stallions for their generous donations and hope all members will consider using one of them. NB. All bids are for straight nominations for each stallion, ie there will be no terms NFFR or NFNF. If you feel this is too early to decide which stallion you want to use, please contact Hazel (telephone: 01904 744295) as we may have a nomination available after that date. A Silent Auction works on the same basis as a sealed bid auction. That is, offers are invited for nomination to the stallions above. On 20th March all envelopes are opened and those which contain the highest bids, win the nomination to the stallion of their choice. The profits from this auction are utilized by the Yorkshire Sport Horse Committee to further its aims in promoting breeding of quality stock, rewarding breeders for their efforts with premiums and running the Summer Show as a show case for competition horses. NEWS FROM OUR CHAIRMAN Reflections on 2009 are mainly ones of relief. We’ll start with in-hand horses and the very popular event horse breeding classes at Bramham. These classes are always hotly contested and this year was no exception with large entries for every class. Chris McGrann’s and Judith Lonsdale’s Brief Encounter-sired colt foal was 2nd, following his firsts in hunter foal classes at Otley and Hambleton. Jane Crossley’s homebred Dancing Revolution (by Yorkshire-based Revolution) won the yearling class and Kath Barley’s filly by Classic out of Drummer’s Dream won the 2 year-old class.
