Roy's Nab Cup Value Picks First Round

AFL FANTASY DREAM TEAM 2013 WELCOME TO THE DT TALK CHEET SHEET FOR 2013 BYE ROUND HELL Thank you for purchasing our cheat sheet for this year. It is jam packed with what you After what was a disastrous three need to know for the upcoming AFL Fantasy season week period during the bye rounds and we hope that it will help you get the edge over last year, even for those who your mates. Good luck! planned for them, we have a new - Calvin, Roy and Warnie. way to deal with the byes in 2013. In Rounds 11, 12 & 13 we will only ROY’S NAB CUP VALUE PICKS need to field 18 players rather than DEFENDERS the normal 22. These guys can Gold Coast’s Jarrod Harbrow looks to be returning to come from any position however his best after injury ruined 2012. He has been scoring at they must be on your field; ie your 87 per 100 mins and is a viable option in the backline for starting 22. If you don’t have the $321,400. Ben Jacobs looks to have settled in well at right structure you could have 10 North and has been scoring well at 83 per 100 mins. I am most interested in the able to field 8 of them. Swan’s Tony Armstrong who has been super impres- Our advice is to try to have a sive. He has been playing his best footy and scoring at a rate of 95 per 100 minutes. If he spread of players, but with the two has forced his way into the best 22, his numbers demand consideration being priced at trades per week, every week our only $249,900. teams are likely to evolve a lot in MIDFIELDERS the 10 rounds leading up to the Blue Kane Lucas $251,200 has had a solid pre-season, averaging 80 per 100 mins, but it multi-bye rounds. As a bit of a rule, was his performance in the NAB final that made me think twice about his value. He look to have no less than 7-8 play- scored an impressive 101 from 34 touches. Koby Stevens looks to have cemented ers per bye round to start without himself in the best 22 at the Dogs and is set to be a huge cash cow given his price of having too few missing a bye round $204,800. He has been scoring at 85 points per 100 mins. The most impressive mid- per position. He has en- joyed a good NAB campaign, averaging 85 points per 100 minutes FORWARDS Eagle Josh Kennedy $272,300 provides amazing value for a walk-up player who has the ability to average 80+ points per game. After a season marred by injury, Kennedy has made an immediate impact during the NAB scoring at 77 points per 100 mins. My biggest value fwd though, has to go to Lion Patrick Karnezis who looks set for a 3rd year breakout. He is finding plenty of the ball off the wing and through the middle, scoring at a whopping 124 points per 100 minutes. He was outstanding over the first 3 quarters of the NAB final for 81. FIRST ROUND LOCKOUT MARATHON! Round 1 this year is a thumper! With the first game on Friday 22nd March and the last on Monday 1st April, we’ll all need to be switched on to navigate the partial lockouts and get our team sorted for the 2013 season. You cannot move them, trade them, make change captaincy or emergency options with them, etc. Here’s what you need to know: PARTIAL LOCKOUT 1 : Friday 22nd March 8:40pm AEDT, Adelaide, Essendon, Fremantle & West Coast players locked. PARTIAL LOCKOUT 2 : Thursday 28th March 7:40pm AEDT, Carlton & Richmond players locked. FULL LOCKOUT : Saturday 30th March 1:40pm AEDT, all remaining players are locked. DT TALK CHEAT SHEET 2013 - DREAMTEAMTALK.COM AFL FANTASY DREAM TEAM 2013 OUR 2013 ROOKIE RANKINGS We like to structure our teams around what rookies are available at the start of the season and who we think have a decent amount of job security and who will get the job done in fattening up as cash cows over the first few rounds. We don’t have the same amount of rookies ready to go as we did when Gold Coast and GWS Giants came into the competition, so this was a hard task! The defenders and the midfielders look alright, but there isn’t much elsewhere. Here are our top rookies per posi- tion and the order we’d be selecting them in. CALVIN’S TOP 5 ROOKIE PRICED DEFENDERS 1. Brett Goodes - At the age of 29, this mature aged rookie is ready to go. He scored 70 and 63 in his last 2 pre-season games and is easily the best defender rookie to select in 2013. He won the JJ Liston trophy for being the best and fairest in the VFL back in 2008 and should be starting on your ground. 2. Lewis Stevenson - Back in 2010, Stevenson played 10 games for the West Coast Eagles tecniqually not making him a rookie this year. After 2 years in the WAFL he was then re-drafted to the Power where he has slotted straight in. He scored an impressive 81 against the Swans in his last practice match and the 23 year old should make the most of his 2nd chance of AFL footy. 3. Dean Terlich - Is another mature aged rookie who finds himself cracking the big time at the age of 23 with the Demons. He’s a certain round 1 starter and scored 91 in his last pre-season game. 4. Nick Vlastuin - Was picked up by Richmond at pick #9 in the draft and has been everywhere during the pre-season. The half back flanker has received midfield time and has really taken the most of his opportunities. 5. Jasper Pittard - Despite having a quiet pre-season, Pittard is a certain round 1 starter for the Power. He's 21 years old and recently smashed out a huge 108 against Sydney in his last pre-season game. His job security is good and al- though he’s ‘rookie priced’ he has played 14 games with Port in 2011/12 to average 56. WARNIE’S LOOK AT ROOKIE PRICED RUCKS STOP PRESS!! Today we had a gift from the DT gods. Mark Bilcavs ($108,500) was named as a midfielder, but he can now be selected as a MID/RUC. Lock him on your bench! He should be playing round one with all of the Cats ruckmen injuries... who knows how long he’ll stay for, but he’s possibly our best bet here. At the moment, there aren’t any other rookie rucks we feel safe with. Currently Daniel Currie ($102,700) and Majak Daw ($108,500) from North Melbourne are the two most popular options under $200K. Neither are locked to play. Our mail from inside North Melbourne is that Goldstein will ruck solely with no support. I am still sticking with Currie as a bench ruckman at this stage as he has been fantastic this pre-season and may get an opportunity. Carlton’s Sam Rowe ($108,500) is the next most popular but I have huge doubts on him play- ing... he started as sub in Friday night’s NAB Cup Grand Final. I am seriously looking at Setanta O’hAilpin at $157,700 purely for his job security. He is the most likely guy to play out of all of the rucks under $200K. In his last year at Carl- ton he managed to average 74, so he isn’t completely useless - as much as Roy tells me how terrible he is. It’s just that extra cash that might hurt there... with extra trades, we will most likely dump a ruckman if they are injured this year. DT TALK CHEAT SHEET 2013 - DREAMTEAMTALK.COM AFL FANTASY DREAM TEAM 2013 ROY’S TOP 5 ROOKIE PRICED MIDFIELDERS 1. Jaeger O’Meara - It is no secret that O’Meara is set for a big season and is heavily under- priced at just $108,500. He has been scoring at 73 points per 100 minutes and realistically he was ready to make an impact this time last year. He finished his NAB campaign with an impressive performance vs the Demons to reassure coaches that he is well and truly in the best 22. 2. Lachie Whitfield - Lachie has not appeared in all of the pre season games but when he has been on the park, his output has been so impressive that his inflated rookie price tag is looking more and more like a bargain.
