Gordon B. Bradley Photograph SP 0006 The photographs in the collection are mainly of Washington, D.C. and vicinity, and include many views of buildings, Collection. monuments, and parks. Other subjects include aircraft, boats, bridges, parades, people, and streets. Consists of over 500 black and white photographs, taken from 1946 through 1952. It is a documentary survey of Bert Sheldon Photograph places of worship in Washington, D.C. Consists of over 650 identified lantern slides representing scenes in the Washington D.C. area from 1808 through SP 0025 General Lantern Slide Collection 1935. Consists of 53 colored slides, 42 are "A Walk Around the National Capital," the remaining 11 slides are "Art and the A Walk Around the Nation's Capitol and the Library of Congress." The first 42 are significant in that they are Kodachrome color shots of the city. SP 0026 Capital, 1939 The other 11 slides are taken from publications of the time. "A Walk Around the National Capital" begins at the White House, proceeds down Pennsylvania Avenue to the Capitol, west on the Mall , and back to the White House. John Meigs Glass-plate Consists of 43 glass-plate negatives taken by John Meigs, ca. 1896, primarily of the Washington, D.C, area, including SP 0027 Photograph Collection several views of Rock Creek Park and the Potomac River. William H. Seaman Photograph Consists of about 150 images taken by scientist and amateur photographer William H. Seaman, 1885-1895. Views SP 0030 Collection include Logan Circle, Dupont Circle, Rock Creek, Downtown, Takoma Park, and Columbia Heights. Thornton Owen Photograph Consists of 83 photographs collected by Thornton Owen, of Washington street scenes and public buildings, ca. 1800- SP 0031 Collection 1950. Consists of 25 photographs of the Tanner family and friends and Washington scenes. The first 19 photographs are James A.Tanner Family interior and external shots of identified persons in unidentified locations. Some photographs are identified as being SP 0032 Photograph Collection taken by flashlight, probably meaning some sort of brief, bright light was used. The 1901 city directory also shows Edward W. Tanner, U. S. Army, living at the M Street address. Consists of about 4000 color slides taken by Emil Press, 1959-1979. The images are mainly of Washington, D.C. south SP 0034 Emil A. Press Slide Collection of Florida Avenue, but some outlying areas are included. Press often photographed buildings that were slated for, or in the process of demolition. The card index to the collection is arranged by both location and subject. Consists of 327 photographs taken by the National Park Service between 1926 and 1936, illustrating the small land Reservations Photograph areas originally "reserved" for use by the City of Washington.
