Tour By Day PRE- TOUR Paris Pre-Tour Package Spend a few days in Paris before your tour: we’ll meet you at the airport and provide a transfer to your hotel—a luxurious home base from which to explore the art, fashion, food, and culture of France’s capital city. After a restful first night, your second day in Paris will be spent exploring the city on foot with a local guide. We’ll cover all the must-see landmarks, including the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, The Louvre, and more. The next morning, your pre-tour concludes with a private transfer to the train station in order to reach the start of your bike tour. Accommodations: Hôtel Bel Ami Price Per Person: $1,500 DAY 1 Bring on the Bubbles Your guides will greet you at the Reims train station and deliver you to the Château des Dames de France for lunch. After a bike fitting and safety talk, we'll warm up on a ride through forests and charming villages that finishes with a loop back to the vineyards. This afternoon we'll check into our hotel, then visit the UNESCO-listed town of Reims. Tour the 13th-century Cathedral of Reims, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture and the coronation site for centuries of French kings. Finally, it's time to toast to our Champagne extravaganza, and we'll raise a glass of bubbly at Maison Pommery, one of Reims’ most famous and historic Champagne houses. An informative visit and cellar tour of this important producer is followed by our first dinner at Brasserie Le Jardin—paired with Champagne, of course. Santé! DAY 2 The Champagne Countryside Depart Reims for the mountains after breakfast this morning, pedaling past the villages of eminent Champagne producers and historic WWI battlegrounds. After lunch in Ay, you may choose to shuttle to our next luxurious hotel nestled in the vineyards just outside of Épernay or keep riding and arrive there by bike. After we've all had time to settle in, we'll regroup and explore the town's countless Champagne mansions, stopping at Champagne Georges Cartier or Comtesse Lafond to learn about life at a domaine. Tonight, dine right in the capital of Champagne where we'll truly "taste the stars." Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner Destinations: Verzenay, Ambonnay, Bouzy, Avenay-Val-d'Or, Ay, Champillon Accomplished: 28 miles / 45 km, elevation gain: 1,555 feet / 474 meters Longer Option: 31 miles / 50 km, elevation gain: 1,840 feet / 561 meters Accommodations: Royal Champagne Hotel & Spa DAY 3 Drinking Champagne with Dom Pérignon Enjoy a pleasant spin through the rural countryside west of Épernay on our way to the Marne River Valley. Pedal along the valley on roads that wind through vines and look down at the Marne and fairytale châteaux below before we break for lunch. Our ride finishes with a tasting at one of our favorite small producers in Hautvillers, hometown to the famous Dom Pérignon. We'll meet for a final apéritif to celebrate a wonderful week full of memories, followed by a Michelin-starred meal at the hotel’s restaurant, paired with some excellent Champagnes from their cellar.
