Perlman has designed over 60 public safety projects, with the majority being fire stations. Perlman has the abilities required to deliver any fire station project on-time, on-budget, and with the sustainable, functional and aesthetic characteristics necessary for an essential building. Significant issues critical to the success of your project include: • Maintaining fire department and public safety as a top priority. • Delivering a facility that not only controls cost, but is cost-effective. We will design with and specify materials and equipment based on initial and life cycle cost benefits to the City. The design will incorporate sustainable principals and be a leader with its energy efficiency. • Resolving traffic patterns, circulation, and drainage both on and off the site. • Addressing the function of a fire station with respect to egress, circulation, flow, exiting. Fire stations are unique essential buildings where seconds count, so a team with proper experience is key. • Minimizing the impact of the station on adjacent neighborhoods. • Combining a design aesthetic that identifies with municipal fire station architecture and the surrounding vernacular • Partnering with the City, Project Manager, Contractor, Fire Department and entire A/E team for a truly collaborative approach. • Flexibility for future growth and technology • Holistic design supporting healthier bldg. environment • Incorporation of “Hot/Cold” Transition Building Zones TEAM DYNAMICS AND RESPONSIBILITIES We believe that team partnering can best be described as fostering an attitude that all stakeholders are team members, and collaborative behavior will be a benefit to the project. DKC will work directly with Perlman Architects of Arizona, fire station design consultant, throughout the entire process with heavy involvement in programming and schematic design process. With our team you will not experience hand-offs between staff members. Although the Perlman involvement will lessen after the initial phase, then will remain available to aid in the success of this project. During the design development and construction documents phase Perlman will participate in milestone reviews and fire station specific details and specifications. In the final phase of construction administration, Perlman will be engaged in fire station system specific submittals. Lastly, at a minimim Perlman will participate in three site visits; underground site and building rough-in, drywall, and substantial completion punchlist.
