Find basic instructions below; for more information, or to plan your own route, visit the website of Vancouver’s regional transportation, TransLink: http://www.translink.ca. The total travel time to UBC via this method should be 50-60 minutes, depending on transfer time. 1. Exiting the airport and getting to the Canada Line Most of you arriving at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) (http://www.yvr.ca/en/passengers) will clear Canadian Customs & Immigration at the airport. Please ensure that you have a valid passport (many countries require passports to have a minimum of six months validity past the date of travel). You will exit at the International Arrivals area. Those arriving on flights from within Canada will exit at the Domestic Arrivals area. Please follow signs for the Canada Line. International travelers will take the escalator outside the arrivals area up to the Canada Line platform. 2. Taking the Canada Line to the bus Before boarding the train, you should purchase a Compass Ticket for travel to UBC (adult fare is $7.75) at one of the Compass Vending Machines (CMVs) at the airport station. CVMs accept Canadian coins and bills (up to $20), and debit and credit cards. Note: Keep your ticket, as it will be needed for the bus transfer; please also keep your receipt for later reimbursement by ISSA. Take the train to King Edward Station (see the map of Canada Line stations, right). 3. Taking the bus to UBC Exit the train station. Immediately outside the station, on the same side of the street, find a bus stop for bus #25 (to UBC). Show your Compass Ticket to the driver as proof of payment. The bus trip will end at the UBC Bus Loop (the end of the line). See map, next page. Note: For those who wish to take a taxi from the airport, this is your decision. ISSA will reimburse a maximum of $7.75 per person from the airport to UBC. The flat-fare taxi rate to UBC from YVR is $34. The rate back to YVR from UBC is metered, but fare is similar (depending on travel time and traffic).
