In 2012, the Lions ranked second in the country in man-down defense and fourth in man-up o" ense. This season, Petrullo has a bevy of juniors and sophomores on the team, and is anticipating making a splash in the East Coast Conference. The maroon and white’s depth has been a strong point of em- phasis for Petrullo, who stated: “We # lled a lot of spots in 2013.” The team boasts one of the youngest rosters in the conference, but with # ve of the Lions’ returning sophomores having started last season, they will use that experience as a springboard for this year’s success. Junior John Grebe (Farmingville, N.Y) started eight games in goal for Molloy in 2012, posting a 4-3 record. “He may have the edge on the other guys, said Petrullo. “He is seeing a lot more shots, and not coming into this year raw.” Sophomores Dan McElhinney (Franklin Square, N.Y.) , a transfer from Nassau Community College, and Alec Volpe (Glen Head, N.Y.) , who has made strides since his freshman campaign, will also compete for Senior Joseph Biscardi time between the pipes. A duo of seniors leads the way for the mid# eld. Kevin Catalano Junior James Lang (Hicksville, N.Y.) , a transfer from Division (Levittown, N.Y.) is a versatile two-way player who is unlikely I program St. John’s University and an All-America selection at to come o" the # eld. He has the ability to score, pick up ground Hicksville High School, brings intensity and athleticism that will balls and play defense. Joseph Biscardi (Wantagh, N.Y.) , the bump up the defensive end, a point Petrullo has stressed for Lions’ senior captain, plays a similar game in-between the lines 2013. Juniors Kevin Vogt (Levittown, N.Y.) and Kyle Frenger and will be on the # eld as much as Catalano. The duo combined (Levittown, N.Y.) are becoming leaders on defense. Vogt has for 22 points in 2012, o" of six goals and 16 assists.
