Saturday, August 6, 11 am Annual Summer Games, Olive Dell There appears to be a lot of interest in taking the coveted Saturday August 13, 6 pm – 9 pm Silver Cup away from the Olive Dell team, who won it last Nude at the Art Gallery, Costa Mesa year in close competition with both NitOC and SCNA. Monday, Aug 15, 6:45 – 8:30 pm, Pasadena The team sports include a Paper Cup Water Relay, Hula Hoop Thursday, Aug 25, 6:45 – 9:30 pm, South Bay/Torrance Team Passing, Pool Noodle Relay Race, a Baton Relay Race Friday, Aug 12, 6:45 – 9:30 pm, Ventura Tues Aug 16, 6:45 – 9:30 pm, Carpinteria in the Pool, and an Egg & Spoon Race. There will also be a balloon toss for teams of two. Added this year is a water SCNA EVENTS IN SEPTEMBER 2016 bottle retrieval game off the bottom of the pool. Individual Games include: a Water Bag Toss, Frisbee Throw Saturday-Monday, Sept 3-4-5 Memorial Weekend & Sunday Luau, Olive Dell Ranch, Colton for distance, and a Frisbee Toss for accuracy. Saturday, Sept 10, Noon – 6 pm We have also added some kid-level games for those under Octoberfest Jacuzzi Party, Westchester who are ages 6-18. Saturday – Sunday, Sept 10-11 The Games will conclude with the traditional Pudding Toss, Hike & Camping at Deep Creek, Bowen Ranch which is just what it sounds like. Treasurer David Tiktin, a non-board member, was selected as Treasurer, and Mike Glinzak replaced the retiring Patty Fitzgibbons as Secretary. Patty received a round of applause from the members for her 13 years as club secretary. After the meeting, people returned to their partying, and a few people decided to play a game of horseshoes near to guest house. There was also a 50/50 raffle and a silent auction. As the shadows grew longer, many decided to visit the Jacuzzi before leaving. Others came inside to hold court with Gary to discuss the Old Days at Elysium and the upcoming Members gather for the traditional group photo on the front lawn of Arroyo del Sol. The weather was perfect – in the high 80’s – and the new pop- up swimming pool took the edge off whenever someone felt the need for a cool dip. Rolf announced he and Cynthia are about to start construction on a permanent pool in the yard, which will make this an even more desirable destination in a few months. Several people brought elaborate pastries, cookies, and cakes, which were much appreciated by all. The official reason why we were gathered was for the Members Meeting, a legal obligation mandated by the State of California because SCNA is a non-profit corporation. Each year the officers must report to the members a summary of its activities and financial decisions made during the previous year. Rolf, Tim, Gary, and a few others spent the next hours speaking to the members and fulfilling this obligation. Next, it was time for our annual election of the club’s Board of Directors for the following year (July 2016 to July 2017). For the first time in several years, all seven of the existing Directors decided to seek re-election, and without any additional nominations from the members, it was decided to forego a ballot and these seven were elected by unanimous voice vote. Serving as your Board for an additional year are Rolf and Cynthia Holbach, Tim Doggett, Mike Glinzak, Cheryl Case, Mark Walters, and Robert Young. As stipulated in our By- Laws, these seven then adjourned to meet separately to select the four club officers for the next 12 months.
