In his Letter for this Day, Pope Francis reminds us: ‘God comes silently and discreetly, without imposing on our freedom. Thus it can happen that his voice is drowned out by the many worries and concerns that fill our minds and hearts.’ Let us all offer one prayer this week for the young people that we know. Let us pray that they will hear the voice of the Good Shepherd amidst the daily events of their lives. Newsletter: If you wish to receive the Newsletter via email please let us know or write your details in the Pink Communications Book in the foyer. Weekday Mass Times: Weekday mass will be on Wednesdays at 9.15am. Frs Kerry Costigan & Michael Cooney will be presiders at Eucharist in April. There will also be a Liturgy of The Word each Tuesday & Thursday afternoon at 5pm. Please advise Maria if you are able to assist in leading this liturgy. Welcome To Fr Kerry Costigan Fr Kerry will be our priest for our Wednesday morning and weekend Masses for the first two weeks of April. Fr Kerry told us last Wednesday that it was the first time he had celebrated mass at St Anthony’s, though in October this year he will have been a priest of the Diocese for 54 years. He has been retired from full time ministry for several years but delights in being available to celebrate Eucharist in parishes throughout Queensland. We warmly welcome Fr Kerry to our St Anthony Community. Friendship Group: The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 17th at 10am. Linda Porter from Ozcare will be guest speaker at the April gathering. At the following meeting in May, Donna Honan, a Volunteer with the Qld Police Service Crime Prevention Unit will be attending. The highlight of Donna’s talk will be Senior Safety and Crime Prevention. Both meetings should be very informative and interesting. Please mark your calendar and come along with a plate to share. All welcome. *** Social Justice News *** Social Justice Thought for the Week:: The ‘Australia is full’ immigration argument suggests we have our infrastructure planning and investment settings quite wrong. To quote the Parliamentary Library: ‘Humanitarian entrants have the youngest age structure of all migrant groups and the largest proportion of dependent-age children…this helps to counteract the effects of an ageing Australian population, by adding to the supply of working age people. Further, humanitarian entrants have begun to contribute to the revival of regional populations and economies, as they are increasingly settling in regional Australia’. Laurie Reedy Collection: The next collection for the fund, which supports refugees and needy families in our local area, will be held April 28/29. Presentation People Celebrating 300 Years since the birth of Nano Nagle. On Presentation Day – 21st November 1954 - the Presentation Sisters came to live in a new convent built by the people of St Anthony’s parish and in 1955 began the St Anthony’s primary school. The Presentation sisters ministered in the parish and school until 1997 and ever since kept in contact with many friends they had made at St Anthony’s over the years. In 2015 the Presentation presence in the Parish was renewed when Sr Maria came to minister within the parish. The Presentation sisters have touched many in your community as they have shared God’s love through the spirit of Nano Nagle - the foundress of the Presentation Sisters. This year marks the 300th anniversary of Nano Nagle’s birth. Honora Nagle (Nano) was born on 9 April 1718 in Ballygriffin County Cork, Ireland and was the eldest of seven children.
