Her obituary appeared at https://www.legacy.com/obituaries/mcall/obituary.aspx?n=mary‐shaughnessy‐ metz&pid=190465135&fhid=9553. If anyone knows of a member who is hospitalized, had surgery, or lost a loved one, please notify VP Dennis Corona ([email protected], 610‐349‐2620) or one of the other Board Members. AACC’s Newest Lifetime Members Congratulations to Ron Laudenslager (‘81) and Bernie Blasko (’17) for becoming AACC’s latest Lifetime Members. During their first twenty years, both fellows made the rounds with other club members to events and on numerous trips. Ron was an avid auto‐crosser while Bernie preferred car shows. Bernie also served as Newsletter Editor and was a Board Director. Congrats again to you both! Recap: 2018 Buddy Walk Sat., Oct. 06 | Over two dozen AACC members came out in a show of support for the Eastern PA Down Syndrome Center and their 2018 Buddy Walk. Club members personally donated over $1,700 to the center. On behalf of their granddaughter, Olivia, both Sharon and Bruce Carney thank everyone for their support of this area charity. Olivia and Mike Carney 87 Photos by Kevin Minnich Allentown Area Corvette Club Page 4 ‘Vetter’s Letter | Vol. 25, Iss. 11 | November 2018 Recap: FSCC’s Ocean City Weekend Fri.‐Sat., Oct. 12‐13 | Free State Corvette Club hosted their 2018 weekend for visiting ‘Vettes from up and down the east coast. The number of attending AACC members was down from years past, but everyone had a great time despite the chilly weather. Thanks also to Bud and Karin Benton for opening their doors for dessert night. 10 Photos by Laura Hegyi Recap: Girls Night Out Thu., Oct. 25 | 3 dozen AACC members and friends attended the 2nd annual "The Girls" Night Out presented by St. Luke's Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery to celebrate Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day at Blue Event Center (Bethlehem, PA). Proceeds support the care of St. Luke's breast cancer patients. The special guest speaker was our own Lisa Dove — a 3‐time breast cancer survivor. Her story was both moving and inspiring. While Lisa did an awesome job, Jeff Gontarek stole the show and used this op‐ portunity to propose to her. (Lisa said “Yes!”) Thanks to AACC for coming out in support and congratulations to Jeff and Lisa on a lifetime of happiness!! Corvette Racing Weekend Fri.‐Sat., Nov. 09‐10 | Join the National Corvette Museum at the AACA Museum in Hershey, PA for a 2‐day celebration dedicated to Corvette Racing. Engage Corvette “celebrities” such as Doug Fehan, Tommy Milner and Tadge Juechter. There will be seminars on the 2018 Corvette Racing season, C7/C7.R synergies, Michelin tires, Mobil 1 lubricants, a Corvette racing memorabilia auction, a racing Q&A session, and plenty of opportunities for photos and autographs. Registration for this event closed Nov. 01. Interested in staying in Hershey for the weekend? Cast Your Vote for AACC’s Next Charity Wed., Dec. 12 | AACC’s Board of Directors solicited member inputs for a local charity which the club will support for the next few years. This charity is supposed to benefit children and would receive partial proceeds from our two car shows. Member suggestions are currently being vetted by the Board to ensure that funds benefit the intended recipients rather than cover administrative fees. Members will cast their ballot vote of all “qualified” charities at our December meeting.
