Students will be split into smaller groups of 3-4 according to their specific research interests. Each group will be expected to design, implement and evaluate a methodological/theoretical approach to a pilot study based on a relevant theme. You should produce a short report discussing the choice of methodologies, research problems, and the strengths and weaknesses of the study. Within each group each member will be given a specific research task. Each group will be expected to give a short 15-20 minute presentation on their project on the last day of the Summer School, Friday 20 July. Each group member within a given group should be involved in the presentation which should concentrate on assessing the usefulness of the research methodologies/theories employed in helping you to achieve your project aims and briefly present your research results. Further details on the exact format and organisation of the pilot project will be circulated at the beginning of the Summer School. You are, of course, encouraged to attend group workshops other than your own. The bus will be waiting for us on Garbarska just outside the CES offices. Please arrive around 15 minutes beforehand so that we may leave promptly at 8:00am. The bus will be chartered for our exclusive use during the entire trip. 09.00hrs Visit to the castle at Niedzica. This castle is one of the most attractive in Poland. The castle itself dates back to the 14th century and up until 1919 was a part of Slovakia and hence, under Hungarian rule. Different Hungarian noble families have held ownership of the castle throughout its history.
