Newsboys have defined Christian music for more than two decades, only to blow up expectations as they’ve recreated themselves again and again. Impossible to pin down, these musical shapeshifters move fluidly between rock and pop, worship and dance, to the delight of their legion of fans. www.CACLive.com Williamsport September 15: Northumberland County Historical Society Show and Tell 7:00 PM Show and Tell returns. This annual favorite is always entertaining as our members and guests bring a treasured possession and relay its story to the audience. www.NorthumberlandCountyHistoricalSociety.org Sunbury September 16: Nostalgia Nights & Trivia at the Peter Herdic Transportation Museum 6:30 PM Join us for an evening of nostalgia in our fully restored 1949 Pullman dining car as we re-create the original railcar menu. After dinner, join us inside the museum to hear a presentation on the history of Pullman dining cars. Cars from the 40's and 50's are on display. Solve clues to find hidden cash prizes. www.phtm.org Williamsport September 16: Full Moon Drumming at Dancing Bear Farm 7:00 PM Gather for joyous noise & rhythm-making each month as we watch the sunset in the west and the full moon rise over the eastern horizon. We’ll gather around a crackling fire to make a joyous noise that will move your body and your soul! Depending on the weather we’ll meet outside round the fire circle or undercover in the barn. A variety of drums and percussion instruments will be provided AND you are encouraged to bring your own. Hot and cold beverages and snacks will be provided. Looking like someone from leaner and meaner times, Willie Watson sings and plays his heart out on his guitar and banjo. Winter State Park Environmental Center 12:00-5:00 PM The Halfway Run Environmental Learning Center will host an open house. Activities taking place throughout the afternoon include a fall scavenger hunt, make & take leaf crafts, demonstrations on natural dyes, paper making, archery, Atlatl, and turkey talking. There will also be talks on rattlers and other reptiles with live animals, a talk on PA mushrooms, and a “Colors of Fall” nature walk. Tickets are $10 at the door. http://www.mifflinburgpa.com/ Mifflinburg September 17: Shotgunn in Concert at the Ned Smith Center 7:30 PM Shotgunn got its start in the 1970s, playing gigs all over the Lykens Valley. They reunited in the early 2000s, performing benefit concerts of rock and funk hits from the 60s and 70s. Crowd favorites include “Soul Man,” “Smoke on the Water” and “Sweet Home Alabama.” www.NedSmithCenter.org Millersburg September 18: Dam Half Dam Full Trail Held at R. B. Winter State Park and the Bald Eagle State Forest, the Dam Half is a challenging ½ marathon that has expanded to become a dual trail competition to include a marathon. We hope that runners and hikers will continue to enjoy the 13-mile course that takes contestants over single & double track trails with some portions of fire roads. The contestants will be subjected to rocks, mud, downed trees, stumps, roots, woodland creatures and small stream crossings. Competitors will scale challenging ascents with scenic vistas before the final downhill to the finish line! The Dam Full will lead runners and speed hikers’ further out along new trails in Bald Eagle State Forest. Sunbury September 18: Shade Mountain Winery Harvest Hustle 5K 1:00 PM Our Harvest Hustle-Run through the vines, then the pines and back for the wine! We will start the race by running through our secret vineyard (behind the winery) and then venturing through the PINES of Bowersox's Tree Farm (so you can scope out this year's xmas tree!). You will then head back to the winery for the grand prize: WINE!! Please bring blankets, chairs, tents, to better relax and enjoy the music outside! To register click: Harvest Hustle Middleburg September 18: Taber Museum Society Program to Feature Vintage Phonographs and Recordings 2:00 PM James and Joanne Ertel will be recounting Thomas Edison’s invention of the phonograph and playing an assortment of Edison cylinder records, including one of Edison talking, the voice of President William Howard Taft, John Phillip Sousa’s band, and the comic monologues of early twentieth century comedian Cal Stewart. As the Ertel lecture coincides with the third Sunday of the month, there will be no admission charged to tour the rest of the museum on the day of the lecture. Seven day event with exhibits (sewing, photography, school, garden produce, and farm products), truck, tractor pulls and ITTP sled. Kids games (nail driving, pedal pulls, corn shelling, water hauling, and grain bagging), Tug of War, musical events, and rides. Serving Snyder County and surrounding communities, the Beaver Community Fair is a real country fair that celebrates the best of country living since 1928. Admission is $3.
