Introduction proposed redevelopment of the Sampson House site adjacent to Blackfriars Bridge in Central London. This report is intended to cover only flood risk and to provide the guidelines and parameters for the detailed drainage design. This study has been prepared in accordance with the guidance contained in the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and the accompanying Planning Practice Guidance. This report should be read in conjunction with the AKT II drainage strategy report dated May 2018. 3795 - Sampson House 3 The site is located to the east of Blackfriars rail bridge on the 2. southern bank of the River Thames with postcode SE1 9JH. It is The Site enclosed by Southwark Street to the south, Hopton Street to the east and north and railway arches to the west. The National Grid reference for the site is 531762, 180425. Adjacent to the site, there is the Tate Modern gallery to the east and the southern entrance to Blackfriars Station to the north and west. The River Thames is located immediately to the north of the site. The site occupies an area of approximately 1.008ha. The surrounding topography has a very slight fall from west to east from a level of approximately 4.1m AOD to 3.9m AOD SITE along Southwark Street and a slight fall from the northern and southern boundaries to the centre of the site from a level of approximately 3.9m AOD to 3.65m AOD along Hopton Street. The site is roughly rectangular in plan and is approximately 210m long x 60m wide. The site location is shown in Figures 2.1 to 2.3 for information.
