These are low-floor, open coach vehicles equipped with a full interior monitoring system, air- conditioning, modern passenger information system and, optionally, with ticket dispensers and ticket punchers. Their interior was adjusted to the needs of passengers with reduced mobility: it fea- tures ramps, folded steps, lifts, broad aisles and a designated space for wheelchairs and bicycles. In the vehicle, motor bogies are used as well as Jacobs bogies (mounted between each two cars). The bogies have a modern gear system and a two-stage spring suspension systems that effectively muffles vibrations, thus enhancing passen- gers’ comfort while travelling. 5 ELECTRIC MULTIPLE UNIT IMPULS The most important features of the vehicle 6 7 ELECTRIC MULTIPLE UNIT IMPULS Available train configurations The IMPULS Electric Multiple Units family can be manufactured in numerous configu- rations. Depending on customers’ needs, we provide trains consisting of two sections (37 WE), three sections (36WE), four sec- tions (31 WE), five sections (45WE) and six sections (35 WE). Apart from the different trainset length, var- ious passenger compartment interior layout options are available, which makes it pos- sible for the EMUs to be used not only as commuter and suburban trains but also on long-distance routes. The vehicle open-floor design makes it easy to move around and comfortable seats, re- sistant to damage, ensure relaxing travel even on longer journeys. The automatic air- conditioning and heating system ensures comfort in all weather conditions. Travelling on IMPULS EMUs also means safety and security – IMPULS vehicles are equipped with full interior monitoring systems. A low floor facilitates boarding and de- boarding even for people with impaired mo- bility. The coach interior provides places for wheelchairs. Toilets are also accessible for people with reduced mobility. 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 ELECTRIC MULTIPLE UNIT IMPULS Passengers come first IMPULS EMUs are the first Polish trains which comply with the latest TSI require- ments i.e., a set of strict requirements and standards in force in the European Union. Thanks to compliance with the requirements set forth in TSI NOI,TSI PRM, TSI SRT and TSI LOC&PAS, IMPULS trains guarantee comfort and safety both to passengers and train drivers. 15 16 17 18 ELECTRIC MULTIPLE UNIT IMPULS Fully TSI-Compliant Cutting-edge solutions are not limited only to the passenger compartment. NEWAG’s designers and design engineers also pro- vided a modern and ergonomic workplace for train drivers. The driver and his assistant have a two-operator control panel at their disposal. A comfortable driver’s cab is air- conditioned and furnished with ergonomic seats and adjustable footrests. IMPULS EMU meets the crashworthiness require- ments in compliance with PN- 15227:2008 standard (C1 crash scenario). 19 20 21 22 ELECTRIC MULTIPLE UNIT IMPULS Performance characteristics • vehicles for commuter, regional and long-distance routes • capable of travelling at speeds of up to 160 km/h • attractive, aerodynamic body design • modern interior in open-coach or compartment layouts • low-floor facilitating boarding and de-boarding • modern retention-tank toilets, compliant with TSI • high travel comfort due to the new gear system • automatically controlled air-conditioning and heating 23 ELECTRIC MULTIPLE UNIT IMPULS Drive • optimal traction characteristics due to implementation of four asynchronous three-phase motors • double reduction traction gears with hollow shafts and flexible coupling • each traction bogie with an individual inverter drive • electricity recuperation to the overhead line while braking 24 25 26 27 ELECTRIC MULTIPLE UNIT IMPULS Passenger area • open-floor car (interior seat layout reflecting the vehicle’s purpose and customers’ requirements) • attractive, functional interior, adapted to needs of passengers with reduced mobility including designated spaces for wheelchairs • modern LED lighting • designated spaces for transporting bicycles • modern passenger information system • interior monitoring system • efficient air-conditioning and heating systems 28 29 30 31 32 ELECTRIC MULTIPLE UNIT IMPULS Driver’s cab • modern, ergonomic interior with two-operator control panel (for train driver and his assistant) • comfortable seats with adjustable footrests • air-conditioned interior • amenities (fridge, kettle etc.) • increased collision safety meeting 4 scenarios according to the PN-EN15227:2008 standard (C-1 crash scenario) 33 34 35 ELECTRIC MULTIPLE UNIT IMPULS Technical data 35WE 45WE 31WE 36WE 36WEd 37WE Number of units 6 5 4 3 3 2 Axle configuration Bo’2’2’Bo’+Bo’2’2’Bo’ Bo’2’2’2’2’Bo’ Bo’2’2’2’Bo’ Bo’2’2’Bo’ Bo’2’2’Bo’ Bo’2’Bo’ Unladen weight 197 t +/– 3% 159 t +/– 3% 135 t +/– 3% 108/107 t +/– 3% ≤110 t 81 t +/– 3% Gross weight 280 t +/– 3% 202 t +/– 3% 172 t +/– 3% 130/135 t +/– 3% 130 t 103 t +/– 3% Maximum axle load per track < 200 kN ≤ 180 kN ≤ 185 kN ≤ 185 kN ≤ 200 kN ≤ 180 kN Total passenger capacity approx. 601 approx. 544 approx. 436 approx. 330 308 approx. 265 Length with couplers 113 600 mm 90 400 mm 74 400 mm 58 400 mm 59 300 mm 42 400 mm Nominal power 3 200 kW 2 000 kW 2 000 kW 1 600 kW 4 × 400 kW 1 600 kW Maximum opening of external door 1 400 mm 1 400 mm 1 400 mm 1 400 mm 1 300 mm 1 400 mm Floor height over railhead in boarding zones 760 mm +/– 40 mm 760 mm +/– 40 mm 760 mm +/– 40 mm 760 mm +/– 40 mm 760 mm +/– 50 mm 760 mm +/– 40 mm Operating temperature range from -30°C to 40°C from -30°C to 40°C from -30°C to 40°C from -30°C to 40°C from -25°C to +40°C from -30°C to 40°C Vehicle height with foided pntographs 4 172 mm 4 172 mm 4 172 mm 4 172 mm 4 210 mm 4 172 mm Maximum vehicle width 2 895 mm 2 895 mm 2 895 mm 2 895 mm 2 841 mm 2 895 mm Supply voltage 3 000 V 3 000 V 3 000 V 3 000 V 3 000 V DC 3 000 V Maximum operating speed 160 km/h 160 km/h 160 km/h 160 km/h 160 km/h 160 km/h Starting acceleration ≥ 1,0 m/s² ≥ 1,0 m/s² ≥ 1,0 m/s² ≥ 1,0 m/s² ≥ 1,1 m/s² ≥ 1,0 m/s² Kinematic gauge PN-EN 15273-2 / UIC 505-2 PN-EN 15273-2 / UIC 505-2 PN-EN 15273-2 / UIC 505-2 PN-EN 15273-2 / UIC 505-2 UIC 505-1;
