Proverbs 3:5-6 You cannot rely on yourself to get to Heaven, and that through God only you can find the narrow way. We have to fully trust and love Jesus and be willing to lay down our lives for Him. Our job on Earth is to show God’s love and spread the good news to the entire world so that everyone can have a chance to experience God’s love and make the choice of their lifetime. We need to not just know who God is, but also have a strong relationship with Him. With God, we can do anything! The verses Proverbs 3:5-6 give me the simple directions on how to live. These two verses were also chosen as one of most admired role model’s, Desmond Doss’, favorite verses. He dedicated his life to God and resisted temptation by basing his life on the verses. They gave him and give me hope and strength through the hardest days. The words, “…lean not on your own understanding…” tell me that humans are powerless without the Almighty. “ …In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths… “tell me to give full credit to God for my talents, and that I will be rewarded with the five crowns of everlasting life. I am Gabriel Sagini, and I am a Disciple of Christ! Do Me a Favor, and Remember Me Thoughts The school had a kind staff, and the teachers used enjoyable but challenging games to interact fun with the learning process. Friends were easy to make, (well, after I stopped scaring the girls in first grade) and there were very few bullies attending the school. There is no judgment at Holy Family-St. Mary’s School. Everyone is equal, no matter what race, religion, or financial state. The food was so delicious, and the cooks were compassionate, caring, fair, and loving. Wishes for Remembrance The first quality I would like to be remembered for is my knowledge of the Bible. I find great joy and satisfaction in seeking out answers to the mysteries located in the Scriptures. Secondly, I desire to be remembered for my great handwriting and cursive, creative writing, math skills, and love of social studies as well as my excellent job of comprehending science. Finally, when people think of me, I want them to recall my fondness of school, and that regardless of whether I was doing well in my studies or not, that I would try to fully understand what I was learning, and therefore strive to grasp more wisdom and knowledge. 1001 17th Ave South • Grand Forks, ND 58201 • 701 -775 -9886 Kae Mayer, Principal •[email protected] Liturgy Roles August 11/12 Readings for the Week of August 5, 2018 5:00 pm Sacristan: Donna Laturnus Lector: Susan Mickelson Sunday: Ex 16:2-4, 12-15 Ps 78:3-4, 23-25, 54 EMHC: Eleanor Yurkovich, Deb & Paul Arnason, Sharon Knutson Randy Pederson Eph 4:17, 20-24 Jn 6:24-35 Altar servers: Hannah Roemmeling, Eliana Moen Monday: Dn 7:9-10, 13-14 Ps 97:1-2, 5-6, 9 2 Pt 1:16-19 Greeters: Gail Severinson Mk 9:2-10 7:30 am Sacristan: Tuesday: Jer 30:1-2, 12-15, 18-22 Ps 102:16-23, 29 Lector: Bernadette Whetham Mt 14:22-23 or Mt 15:1-2, 10-14 EMHC: Wednesday: Jer 31:1-7 (Ps) Jer 31:10-13 9:00 am Sacristan: Betty Ackerman Mt 15:21-28 Lector: Yvonne Hanley/Wanda Weber Thursday: Jer 31:31-34 Ps 51:12-15, 18-19 Mt 16:13-23 EMHC: Betty Ackerman, Denice Devaal, Brenda & Greg Dufault, Friday: 2 Cor 9:6-10 Ps 112:1-2, 5-9 Jn 12:24-26 Joan Oncken, Toni & Wayne Vonasek, Agnes Wischer, Gena Saturday: Hb 1:12--2:4 Ps 9:8-13 Mt 17:14-20 McCarty, Jim & Rainy Glowack, Kim Hager Altar servers: Shayleigh Hanson, Braedy Hanson Next Sunday: 1 Kgs 19:4-8 Ps 34:2-9 Eph 4:30--5:2 Ushers: Randy Slominski, John & Joan Oncken, Kirk Motl, Jn 6:41-51 Merlin & Brenda Schill, Del Scholler, Lori Motl, Tyler Christenson Greeters: George & Marilyn Cariveau, Kathy Iverson, Del Scholler 11:00 am Sacristan: Teresa Orr Lector: Jolie Ewens The following recently EMHC: Juanita & Joe Peterka, Tim Peterka, Lee Westling registered as members at Mary Ekberg, Jeff Barta Altar servers: Noah Zmarzlik, Brianna Peterka Holy Family: Ushers: Margaret Zmarzlik, Steve & Julie Kirchoffner, Richard Kuntz, Margarita Consing, Phyllis Moen, Austin Oehlke Barbara Dolan Greeters: Volunteer needed Maynard & Phyllis Kadlec Thank you to the Holy Family Welcome to our parish community! parishioners who provided food, made monetary donations for food and Mass Schedule supplies, and volunteered at the recent dinner we hosted at Northlands Rescue Mission.
