That and changes in the economy, have contributed to Mohave Community College’s College Preparatory Services 7 steady growth in enrollment. Over the last six years, the college has added more than a Career/Technical Certificates dozen9 career/technical programs to the curriculum, to prepare students – usually in two years or less – for employment in high-demand, high-paying careers. 11 AAS/AGS Degrees Enrollment continues to grow in classes that transfer toward bachelor’sAssociate’s degree programs Degrees at a variety of universities. 13MCC currently& Transfer has partnership Programs (articulation) agreements with 17 institutions that accept MCC’s associate of arts, business and science degree as the first two years of a bach- University Partnerships elor’s15 degree. Students who complete an associate’s degree at MCC will save more than $12,000 in tuition alone compared with those who start their Distance Education/MCC Online 17 bachelor’s degree at the university. MCC continues to partner with agencies in the county to Corporate Outreach serve19 the education needs of the residents. The Many Facets of MCC | 67 Career/Technical Certificates Many rewarding careers require no more than a year of courses at MCC with 8 to 35 credit hours of instruction. Others require up to 54 credit hours and can be completed in two years. The certificate programs prepare students for immediate employment in the field of their choice at a higher average income than will be earned by those who pursue employment through on-the-job training. The Many Facets of MCC | 89 Career/Technical Degrees The Associate of Applied Science (AAS) and Associate of General Studies (AGS) degrees at Mohave Community College are two-year, 60-65 credit-hour programs that qualify students for immediate employment in their chosen field, or prepare them to sit for licensing examinations that will qualify them for work in those fields. Associate of Applied Science degrees are available in: Allied Health Computer Information Systems Chemical Dependency Studies Computer Information Systems Dental Hygiene Systems Administration EMT – Paramedic Medical Assisting Culinary Arts Nursing Culinary Arts and Hospitality Pharmacy Technology Physical Therapist Assistant Industrial Technology Surgical Technology Automotive Collision Repair Automotive Service Technology (AGS) Business Electrical Technology Accounting Refrigeration Technology Entrepreneurship and Welding Technology Small Business Management General Business Public Safety Paralegal Fire Science These are high-demand careers in which openings are readily available. Credits from some of the AAS degrees frequently transfer to universities that offer baccalaureate programs in the field. In addition, online bachelor’s degree completion is possible through MCC’s university partners, so students need not move or give up their current employment. The Many Facets of MCC | 1011 Associate’s Degrees & Transfer Programs MCC offers associate of arts, business and science degrees, which include the 35-37 credit-hour Arizona General Education Curriculum block of courses. These degrees provide a solid education foundation for many careers, and also satisfy the requirements for students’ first two years of a bachelor’s degree. Associate’s Degrees from MCC include: Associate of Arts Science Administration of Justice Social Studies Art Social and Behavioral Science Elementary Education, emphasis in: - Early Childhood Education Associate of Business (ABus) - Language Arts Computer Information Systems - Mathematics Business Administration - Science - Social Studies Associate of Science (AS) English Chemistry History Geology Liberal Arts Life Science Mathematics Transfer Programs MCC associate’s degree graduates can transfer their credits and complete a bachelor’s degree at one of Arizona’s three state universities, at one of MCC’s 14 other articulation agreement partners, or at a vast number of universities worldwide, attending either onsite or online. Online degrees make it possible for students to maintain their current employment and not have to move.
