The afternoon was the time our leadership engaged in our ongoing leadership development training in the Eddie G. Smith Leadership Institute. Good governance, and the effective and responsible management of an organization, can only occur through consistent education and ethical standards. All levels of our leadership receive this training to maintain stability within the various segments of our association and to provide continuity for the future. Receptions were held before the opening session to welcome distinguished guests, friends, and family to the convention. Mr. Noel Wallace, the new President and CEO of Colgate-Palmolive joined us for the first time since assuming his post. He delivered greetings and made a presentation during the Opening Session. After a full day, 10 universities and the American Dental Colgate-Palmolive Education Association hosted receptions for alumni and friends. On Saturday, the Dr. Alison P. Riddle-Fletcher Women Dentist’s Award Luncheon honored five phenomenal CVS women with special awards. Ms. Karen Dale received the corporate award, Mrs. Romella Dentist’s Advantage/CNA Rodgers received the community leadership award, and Dr. Rochelle Rollins received the Dental Trade Alliance Foundation award of excellence. Board Chair, Dr. Cheryl Y. Lee was recipient of the achievement and leadership award, and the legacy award was presented to Dr. Jeanne C. Sinkford. The DentaQuest Partnership for Oral Health Civil Rights Luncheon was held Sunday. Political scientist, author, and international news Advancement commentator Dr. Wilmer J.
