The fi rst meeting of the Bull- dogs (3-1, 1-1 Ivy) and Black Be ars (2-3, 2-1 CAA) in 78 years takes place at Harold Alfond Sports Stadium in Orono. It airs live on ABC in Bangor, on Fox College Sports Atlantic and on GAME INFORMATION the Yale Football Radio Network (ESPN Radio AM-1300 in New Haven). Everyone else is still seeking their fi rst Ivy victory. DEBUT Christopher Williams-Lopez made his varsity debut Saturday and caught seven passes for 30 yards. The sophomore WR from Duluth, Ga., missed the fi rst three games of 2015 with an injury. LEADING THE D Sophomore FS Hayden Carlson had a team-high six solos and nine overall tack- les, while junior LB Victor Egu had a Yale-best 1.5 sacks. Egu also had nine total stops. BIG BANG BULLDOG Yale’s biggest hit of the day last Saturday was Copache Tyler’s tackle for loss in the third quarter. Dartmouth RB Brian Grove took a handoff near mid fi eld and headed up the middle before he was run over by the junior DT with such force that it knocked the runner backwards for a four-yard loss. STRONG DOG LEG Yale junior kicker/punter Bryan Holmes leads the team with 22 points while handling all aspects of kicking. He is 5-for-7 on fi eld goals, including a career-long of 44 at Lehigh. He has a 40.0 punting average with six landing inside the 20. Holmes has kicked off 20 times with seven going as touchbacks. Holmes, Ivy League Special Teams Player of the Week after the Cornell game, is a 6-foot, 197-pound kicker who began his collegiate career as a kickoff specialist his freshman season before exclusively handling the punting duties in 2014. His 2015 responsibilities make him the fi rst Yale player to handle all three areas since Tom Mante in 2008. COMEBACKS The Bulldogs have come from behind in two of the three victories. Yale was down by 14 in game one against Colgate and 19 in the sec- ond contest before marching back to victory. The 33-point combined defi cit was erased by the Elis outscoring the fi rst two opponents 42-7 in the second half. The Bulldogs erased three big defi cits last year to register victories over Lehigh, Army and Brown. BLOCKED KICKS The Bulldogs lead the FCS with four blocked kicks this fall. Junior FS Foyesade Oluokun blocked two Colgate fi eld goals on Sept. 19. Junior DE Marty Moesta knocked down a Cornell PAT, while freshman DE J. Hunter Roman got to a Big Red fi eld goal attempt in week two. CAPTAIN CHAMPION Cole Champion, Yale’s senior captain, was part of two high school national championships at St. Thomas Aquinas in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. The Bulldog strong safety and two-time All-Ivy pick has 190 career tackles and four interceptions. Champion has started the last 30 straight games. BIG DONATION Junior DT Jack Rushin recently donated marrow to a needy recipient. He is the 32nd donor that has come from the Mandi Schwartz Marrow Drive, which takes place each spring on the Yale campus and honors the memory of the former Bulldog women’s hockey player. Rushin, the nephew of Sports Illustrated writer Steve Rushin, only missed a day of practice. CONSISTENCY ON THE LINE The fi ve starters on the Yale offensive line have started all 10 games the last two seasons. That is not the case this fall, but there is experience up front in 2015. Center Luke Longinotti has 24 straight starts, while left tackle Khalid Cannon has 14. Guard Jon Bezney and tackle Beau Iverson got their fi rst starts at Colgate this fall, while left guard Anders Huizenga has a pair. 2015 YALE FOOTBALL GAME NOTES 2015 YALE FOOTBALL • 142ND SEASON • 14 IVY LEAGUE TITLES • 26 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS • 1ST TEAM TO 800 WINS • ROBERTS CLIMBING YALE LISTS Morgan Roberts, a 2014 second-team All-Ivy pick who attended Charlotte Country Day before enrolling at Clem- son University, played in nine games in 2013 as the No. 2 and then started since game one of 2014. Roberts has produced enough as a Bulldog to be on the following ca- reer lists: 4th in total offense (4,969); 4th in completions (364); 4th in passing yards (4,713); 5th in passing TDs (33) and 5th in passing attempts (630).
