Both Dings Crusaders and their opponents changed in a local house, with the players taking their turn in a single galvanised bath after the game! Dings Crusaders’ first international “Sunny Jim” or “Darkie” James Peters played for the Dings and Knowle before AGE NOW going on to play for Bristol and then England in 1906, gaining five caps in all. COMFORTABLE RETIREMENT Dings started off the leagues in 1987/8 in Gloucester 1 (Level 9) (NB We were at Level 5 SW1 at the time) and INCOME steadily climbed up the divisions: 1990/1 Gloucester & Somerset, 1994/5 Western Counties, 1996/7 SW2 West, 2001/2 SW1 until they reached National 3 South as it was then (Level 4) for the 2003/4 season. There they remained until 2014/2015 when they were relegated for the 2015/2016 season and remained for this season. However, our paths 5 YEARS crossed for the first time when we gained promotion to National 2 South for the 2012/3 season. As can be gathered TIME from the record shown below, home advantage was the crucial factor and was the case when competed in National 2 South. However we came close in to losing at home in September 2013 in a very tight match. With just minutes to go, fullback Mark Woodrow had the chance to put the game beyond Bournemouth’s reach when Dings were awarded a penalty with the scores at 30-36. However, can I say uncharacteristically, he pulled his kick outside the near 10 YEARS TIME post. A quickly taken drop out and regather saw Bournemouth retain posssesion taking play deep into Dings’ 22m.
