• To attract visitors to the region by partnering with the local business • To inspire and educate young musicians of the Mornington Peninsula Our festival attracts an audience of all age groups and increasingly through local support we are able to offer free and community engagement events across the festival. As a professional festival, we pride ourselves in attracting the highest quality musicians in the fields, and are increasing opportunities across genres including classical, baroque, world music, jazz, folk and electronic music. In 2021 and beyond, PSMF is committed to building sustainable models of delivery of professional music and further develop the audience base for live classical, chamber and high quality music. Over the past 13 years, PSMF has established itself as an icon on the classical music calendar in Australia and we are seeking further Council support to ensure the ongoing high-quality performances professional musicians for local audiences. Each year we run at break even and do not have a sustainable and solid base to build on. The 2020 festival came extremely close to being cancelled due to lack of financial reserves, and only through the generosity of private donations was it able to continue. We respectfully request $28,013.00 (See attached budget table breakdown) to support our significant contribution to the Mornington Peninsula events and musical community. Do you currently have money (partial or otherwise) to fund this project? We are partially funded through targeted ticket sales and private donations and some accumulated contingency funds Do you plan to seek additional funding sources, i.e. grants, donations, etc. Small grants from Balnarring Community Bank to fund specific things occurring in Balnarring and their catchment areas. Are there other community members, organisations, businesses, etc. that you are, or might, work with to help deliver this project? We will work with many local businesses and have partnered with local businesses for a number of years.Our venue partners include: Montalto Winery, Moorrooduc Estate, Hurley Vineyard, Port Phillip Estate, Main Ridge Estate, Beleura House, Everywhen Artspace, Elgee Park and Peninsula Hot Springs. A number of local community volunteers also assist with the delivery of this project from year to year. Are there key stages, timelines of dates for this project? This project is an annual event held in January each year, and as such we are asking to be considered for a series of three years as we aim to get ourselves to a sustainable future. After three years we will aim to have a stronger financial base that can rely more on internal revenue raising and corporate sponsorship dollars. Has funding previously been sought for this project? This year we will be treated to intimate candlelight concerts, unique performances in our treasured wineries, and more music around the Peninsula. There is a strong focus on the talents of local and interstate artists this year who will be sharing a wide range of music, from Japanese shakuhachi and harp to saxophone to recorder and koto and much more! Experience yoga classes with one of Australia’s leading violinists performing during the session, there’s our family day ‘Haydn Seek’ where kids of all ages will search for our musicians in Balnarring. The Stiletto Sisters have been wooing audiences for many years with their seductive blend of Hungarian gypsy, tango and love songs from around the world. Led with breathtaking virtuosity by Hungarian trained violinist Hope Csutoros (My Friend the Chocolate Cake) the trio features the dynamic piano accordion playing of Judy Gunson (formerly Cosmo Cosmolino) and the wonderful talents of Jo To on double bass. The Stiletto Sisters perform with extraordinary emotional range from extreme delicacy to blazing intensity and more than a touch of humour. These works have long held a fascination for Peter, and he draws upon many years of meditations upon them to craft a truly captivating experience.
