Kusumavati Miraji Arts and Commerce College, (Shantinagar), Bedkihal-Shamanewadi-591214 Ta l: Chikodi Dist: Belgaum YEAR OF REPORT: 2015-16 The following plan of action was chalked out by the IQAC for quality enhancement. 1) To conduct orientation programme to I and II semester students to acquaint them with the semester system as per Rani Channamma University Belagavi. (Started from 2005-06 on phased manner) and the curricular, co-curricular and extra- curricular activities of the college. 2) To conduct seminar group discussions, guest lectures and various competitions to enhance the depth of knowledge in various subjects. 3) To depute teachers to national and state level seminars, workshops, conferences to attend and present papers in their fields of interest. 4) To conduct remedial courses for slow learners. 5) To motivate students to participate in co-curricular activities like Elocution, Essay, Rangoli, competitions. 1 | P a g e 6) To facilitate overall personality development of the students through NCC, NSS, Sports, Literary activities, Study tours and adventure programmes. 7) Make special efforts to enhance the performance of students in University Athletic meets. 8) To Motivative more number of students of final year to join graduate finishing school Dharwad for employment opportunities and thereby helping the poor and deserving students. 9) To make Efforts to get more UGC grant for equipments for Computer lab, Gymkhana & Library. 10) „Students-Teachers Exchange Programme‟ with neighboring College is organized under MOU. 11) To conduct programmes to harness the hidden talents of students. 12) To undertake project works to give practical knowledge to the students. 13) To conduct extension activities in adopted village through NSS Special camp. 14) To continue MOU with neighboring college for exchange of students and teachers under students – Teachers exchange programme. 15) To arrange industry and Bank visits to students expose them to corporate culture. 2 | P a g e 16) To conduct health awareness programmes by inviting experts from medical field. 17) To conduct blood donation camp by NCC cadets, NSS volunteers and faculty members. 18) To celebrate the days of National and International importance along with founders day to inculcate the ideas of great personalities. 19) To arrange spiritual discourse programmes & yoga classes to attain our vision. 20) To encourage the teachers to publish article Books in national and international journals. 21) To organize UGC founded National level / state level seminars 22) To motivate the teachers to undertake UGC founded Major /Minor research project. 23) To organize compare interview inviting reputed companies /Banks for placement. 24) To conduct career guidance workshops to enable the students make right choice to build up their career. 3 | P a g e PART-B: Vision of the College The vision of the college is inculcating youth with Samyak Darshana, Samyak Dnyana and Samyak Charitrya i.e. Right Perception, Right Knowledge and Right Conduct, the three jewels, of Jain Philosophy, The college firmly aims at inculcating Right Perception, Right Knowledge & Right Conduct among our students. Mission Statement of the College: The mission of our college is “Empowering rural youth with special emphasis on women and weaker sections of the society” Smt. Kusumavati Miraji Arts and Commerce College, believes in the education of humanities for empowerment of youth women, and weaker sections of the society and the rural youth to shoulder the individual and social responsibilities. 4 | P a g e Objectives: To focus the relevance of the study of the humanities, commerce and management in this globally competitive era. To empower rural women with higher education at affordable cost. To give necessary impetus to weaker section of the society to make them economically and socially viable. To instill the spirit of inquiry and thirst for knowledge. To prepare the rural youth to be self employed and self reliant. To cater to the manpower needs of the society. To imbibe the quality of national unity and integrity. To foster an understanding of mutual respect and responsibility between male and female members of the society for building a strong and vibrant nation. To foster a holistic attitude towards the importance of English language with a pride and respect towards the regional language, mother tongue and rich culture of India in liberalized, privatized and globalised (L.P.G) Era. 5 | P a g e 01) ACTIVITIES REFLECTING THE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE INSTITUTION: Our college is situated in the rural border area of Karnataka and Maharashtra. We strive hard to cater to the needs of our rural youth, weaker sections of the society and women students and provide quality higher education at affordable cost. 1) To encourage women students and students of the weaker section of the community to get higher education, admissions are given to all eligible students. Financial assistance and various scholarships are given to the needy and meritorious students. Married women are encouraged to continue their education. 2) Concession in fees given to students showing remarkable performance in sports, NCC or NSS. 3) Impetus is given to Spoken English Course. 4) Students are encouraged to join NCC and NSS units, concerned officers participated in special camps. The students were guided and inspired to organize functions themselves and motivated to participate in the intercollegiate extempore and essay competitions. They participated in University/State level NCC/NSS leadership training camp. 5) Government hostel facility is provided to the out station SC/ST boys students. 6) Women‟s Hostel facility is provided. 6 | P a g e 7) Human Rights, Spoken English Courses are conducted. 8) Certificate course in Jainology is continued. 9) Language lab is established. 02) NEW ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES INITIATED - UG/PG 1. Ad-on courses like Karnataka University-MOU-Infosys Bangalore IAP Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses in “soft skills” are started step by step. 2. Certificate course in Jainology is continued. 3. Spoken English Classes are conducted. 03) INNOVATIONS IN CURRICULAR DESIGN AND transaction: 1. Curriculum of all languages basic as well as optional subjects revised and new subjects importing social and living values are introduced. C) Dr. B. B. Kalatippi participated in workshop on curriculum designing and designed curriculum in their respective subjects. 04) INTER-DISCIPLINARY PROGRAMMES STARTED: Inter-disciplinary programmes started as per semester system were helpful to career development. 7 | P a g e 05) EXAMINATION REFORMS IMPLEMENTED: OMR System is continued in the conduct of examination. Multiple choice question paper patterns have been introduced for following compulsory subjects: a) Indian Constitution. b) Human Rights & Environmental Studies. c) Personality Development. d) Computer Science. 06) CANDIDATES QUALIFIED: NET/SLET/GATE etc. -Nil- 07) INITIATIVE TOWARDS FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME: 1. Teachers are deputed to participate and present papers in National and State level seminars/workshops to equip themselves with modern developments in various subjects. 2. Teachers presented papers in national and international seminars/ workshops etc. All teachers have participated in R. C. U. Examination related work. 3. NSS and NCC officers participated in orientation programmes. 4. Three teachers deputed to participate in seminars as chair person and resource person. 8 | P a g e 5. Teachers encourage to publish articles in journals and to publish books. 6. Teachers deputed to attend orientation and refresher course in their respective subjects. DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH: 1. Prof. V. R. Narasai has presented papers in a national level seminar and an international seminar. 2. She has published article in an ISBN journal. And an article is to be published in an ISSN journal. 3. It is equipped with computer with internet and language lab. Department of English was looked after efficiently by Prof. V. R. Narasai DEPARTMENT OF HINDI: 1) Students Project work was undertaken by the department. 2) Asst. Prof. K. B. Chougule presented Eight Papers. DEPARTMENT OF MARATHI: 1. On 5th Sept. 2014 Prof. A. C. Sagare attended Khanapura Taluka Shikhan Vibhag as chief guest. 2. On 15th Sept. 2014 Prof. A. C. Sagare was awarded `Ideal Teacher‟ by Shahu Phule Ambedkar Vichar Manch, Konalakatta. Tilarinagar. 3. On 12th March. 2014 a group discussion was arranged on occasion of Savitribai Phule Jayanti. 4. On 17th Dec. 2014 Prof. Dr. G. S. Sutar attended the function arranged by Vishvakarma Samajik sanstha Ankali as a chief guest at Ankali. 5. On 11th Jan. 2015 Prof. Dr. G. S. Sutar was awarded “Vishesha Gourava Puraskar” by Vishvakrma Samaj Sanshta Ichalakaranji. 6. On 26th Jan. 2015 Prof. Dr. G. S. Sutar honoured by Latthe Education Society, Sangali on behalf of Ph. D. Degree award. 10 | P a g e 7. On 25th Feb 2015 Prof. Dr. G. S. Sutar attended a function at Manukul Shikshan Sanstha, Bedkihal as a chief guest. 8. On 16thAugust 2014 Prof. A. C. Sagare attended Karnataka Rajya Prathamika Shala Shikshak Sangh, Banglore Taluka Level Shaikshanik Sammelan as Resource Person. 9. On 12thOct 2014 Prof. A. C. Sagare attended a function at Banda High school Banda as a Chief Guest. 10. On 12thNov 2014 Prof. A. C. Sagare attended Chipari Jain Mandir as Chief Guest. 11. On 7thDec 2014 Prof. A. C. Sagare attended Sahitya Sammelan at Belagundi as Chief Guest.
