NSW:Sydney Town Hall bells ring again AAP Newswire, Australia, National, AAP 03 Sep 2013 123 words - ASR N/A Photo: No - Type: AAP Newswire - National - Australia - ID: 211402537 SYDNEY, Sept 3 AAP - After more than 500 days of silence the chimes from Sydney's oldest clock tower are about to ring out amid the city's hustle and bustle. The Sydney Town Hall clock tower has been undergoing an extensive makeover to ensure its ageing facade survives. A team of expert stonemasons have been working on the sandstone building since February, and the "painstaking" restoration of the clock tower marks the completion of the first stage of the project, a Sydney City Council statement said. Lord Mayor Clover Moore will launch the bells of the 129-year-old clock just in time for the midday Westminster chimes on Tuesday. Once the restoration is complete, new energy-efficient LED lights will be installed to highlight the makeover. AAP svm/jjs/tm ©AAP, All Rights Reserved.
