Both of my uncles are disabled. One died last year and one is 42 year old with Down Syndrome and we also saw so many children who are suffering. That is why I registered an NGO so that I help those patients who want help. Here in Jammu Kashmir according to Census 2011 total 8 lakh (800.000) people have different disabilities. Here we have no early intervention centers, no rehab centers, and other facilities like inclusive education. Here in Jammu & Kashmir according to records of Govt survey 90.000 Children are suffering different disabilities and parents are not able to find any good rehab centers and professionals. Our organization has the dream to start Rehabilitation center where children with different disabilities come for different therapies like PT, OT, Special education, Speech therapy and some Vocational training. I believe every child deserve equal rights. We also want to invite professionals across the Globe to come to Kashmir and meet parents and special children and spend some time with these beautiful children's and train parents and therapist. Our organization wants to associate with any international organization who helps special need children in Kashmir, so that parents get relief. We want to construct building 5 rooms and washroom where we want to provide different and regular therapies. Our aim is to provide training to parents. Our aim and future are to offer community-based rehabilitation, in Srinagar and in the rural areas. Especially in the rural area’s parents cannot find Rehabilitation centers and miss early intervention, most needed for special needs babies. Land and building for STD Foundation Zaheer Jan has been given this land from his father/family. He does not have to pay rent. This piece of land is easily accessible from road and in particularly good location. The building will belong to STD Foundation. The land lease agreement between Zaheer Jan and his father is part of this proposal. .
