MEDIA RELEASE July 28, 2020 Public Accounts Committee releases report on its 2019/20 activities VICTORIA – The all-party Select Standing Committee on Public Accounts today released a report on its 2019/20 activities. Government policy is not examined by the committee. Instead, the committee reviews the administration of government programs and due regard for the use of public funds by examining audit reports of the Office of the Auditor General (OAG). The committee reports to the Legislative Assembly on its review of OAG audit reports about the effectiveness and efficiency of government administration and spending. “The committee had a busy agenda in 2019/20 reviewing 16 OAG reports covering the effectiveness of government’s financial statements as well as important programs like emergency health, safe drinking water, and children and youth in care,” stated committee chair, Shirley Bond. “I am grateful for the support provided to the committee by the Office of the Auditor General, the Comptroller General and the many senior public servants who appeared before the committee.” “I very much appreciate the hard work and collaborative approach of committee members as we ensure value for money through the delivery of good quality government services across our province,” added deputy chair, Mitzi Dean.
