Since its inception in 1990, the College has stood by its vision: to be a global leader in surgical education and practice. It has made significant contributions to the advancement of the practice of surgery in Hong Kong, providing quality training and continuing professional development, while promotion close collaboration with overseas partners. Hong Kong, I am proud to say, is blessed with top surgeons and surgical centres. Indeed, its membership counts more than 1000 Fellows in six surgical specialties and over 200 Members. This could not have been possible without the remarkable work of the College over these 25 years. I am pleased to note that, as part of its 25th anniversary, the College has organised a mentorship programme for Year 1 and Year 2 medical students from the University of Hong Kong, the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Student Surgical Association of Hong Kong.
