The proposed methodology successfully discovered important tourism areas in urban and remote regions in Nepal. Apiruk Puckdeevongs [106421] Thailand/Royal Thai Government Fellowship (Master of Science [Information Technology], King Mongkut's University of Technology, North Bangkok, Thailand) Bluetooth-Based Indoor Positioning Systems Prof. Nitin Kumar Tripathi Dissertation Abstract: This research proposes A Framework for Bluetooth Indoor Positioning System which suggests and explains how to design and implement the model for indoor positioning using Bluetooth signal. This study applies Feed-Forward Multilayer Perceptron (FF-MLP) as the primary model which integration a Radial Basis Function (RBF) for position estimation II. Completed the Requirements in August 2020 (18 December 2020) Department of Industrial Systems Engineering Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Karan Sengpanich [114305] Thailand/Self Support (Bachelor of Engineering [Aerospace Engineering], Kasetsart University, Thailand) New Methodology for Optimization and Selection of Pump-As-Turbine (PAT) in Impulse Mode Assoc. Prof. Erik L. J. Bohez/Dr. Mongkol Ekpanyapong Dissertation Abstract: To improve efficiency and controllability of Pump-as-Turbine (PaT), injectors from impulse turbine has been incorporated into the newly proposed turbine concept called Impulse Pump-as-Turbine (Impulse PaT). Theoretical, numerical, and experimental studies show that Impulse PaT with volute has comparable performance and efficiency to conventional micro hydro turbine. 3 Department of Information & Communication Technologies Information & Communications Technologies Hiranya Sritart [119886] Thailand/Royal Thai Government - AIT Fellowship (Master of Engineering [Biomedical Engineering], Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Germany) A Spatial Approach for Assessing the Vulnerability of Emergency Shelters Dr. Hiroyuki Miyazaki Dissertation Abstract: This study presents a novel methodology for evaluation of accessibility, integrating spatial distribution of both population and evacuation shelters for assessing and reducing the vulnerability of shelter planning. This research provides the evidentiary foundation through a case study using GIS as vital reference for local authorities and stakeholders for long term management. Telecommunications Sheraz Khan [111272] Pakistan/University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar, Pakistan (Master of Science in Engineering [Electrical and Communications], N.W.F. P. University of Engineering & Technology, Pakistan) Modeling and Analysis of Delay Performance for Wireless Regional Area Networks in the Joint Scenario of Self-Coexistence and Incumbent Coexistence Dr. Poompat Saengudomlert Dissertation Abstract: Incumbent coexistence and self-coexistence are common among wireless regional area networks (WRANs). Two- dimensional Markov chain models are developed for such WRANs with multichannel operations. The matrix geometric method is used to compute steady-state probabilities, from which mean packet delays are evaluated and can be used for network planning. Bipun Man Pati [119320] Nepal/TV White Space (TVWS) Project - AIT Fellowship (Master of Engineering [Telecommunications], Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand) A Deep Convolutional Neural Network-Based Transfer Learning Method for Non- Cooperative Spectrum Sensing Dr. Attaphongse Taparugssanagorn 4 Dissertation Abstract: The study investigates deep learning methods for enabling high performance non-cooperative spectrum sensing, for future cognitive radio systems. In addition, the proposed method with transfer learning not only guarantees the sensing requirements but also realizes substantial reduction of training time and sensing time compared to the case without transfer learning Natthanan Promsuk [119614] Thailand/AIT Fellowship (Master of Engineering [Telecommunications], Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand) Artificial Intelligence Based Optical Character Recognition System and Interference Suppression in Industrial Internet of Things Network Dr. Attaphongse Taparugssanagorn Dissertation Abstract: The study presents the numeral recognition system (NRS) and the long short-term memory-interference recognition (LSTM-IR) technique. Hough and Histogram of Gradient were applied to increase the performance within the NRS under the screen rotation problem. In addition, the LSTM network was modelled to predict the interference bits under the industrial internet of things topologies. The study provided insights for further internet technology. SCHOOL OF ENVIRONMENT, RESOURCES AND DEVELOPMENT I. Completed the Requirements in Inter-semester 2020 (22 July 2020) Department of Energy, Environment & Climate Change Energy Titipong Samakpong [111844] Thailand/HM King HRD Project - AIT Fellowship (Master of Engineering [Electrical Engineering], Kasetsart University, Thailand) Optimal Power Flow Incorporating Wind and Solar Power Uncertainty Cost Using Particle Swarm Optimization with Mutation Prof. Weerakorn Ongsakul Dissertation Abstract: This research proposed the “Optimal Power Flow solution method integrating the cost of wind-solar power uncertainty using “Particle Swarm Optimization” (PSO) techniques. A Monte-Carlo approach is used to simulate 5 uncertainty cost of wind and solar power. The problem is solved by different PSO techniques to compare effectiveness and performance.
