BAFTA LOS ANGELES BOARD OF DIRECTORS ELECTION There are a total of 13 candidates to fill 9 slots. We ask that you carefully review these Applications before you cast your vote. Your vote is very important. The BAFTA Los Angeles Bylaws require that a minimum of one third of our Full Voting Members participate in the voting for this election. Members will be given the opportunity to meet the candidates and ask questions at a reception on November 17, 2014. Details are available on our website at www.bafta.org/losangeles and have also been emailed to you this week. By submitting candidacy for the election, our candidates have confirmed and pledged to their fellow members that that the statements made in their application are true and accurate. VOTING INSTRUCTIONS The election of BAFTA Los Angeles’ Board of Directors is critical to the academy’s future. Please read all statements carefully and vote for the individuals you feel will best further the goals of the organization. The Election will be conducted online via Election Buddy, an online election and voting service. You will have received an email from BAFTA Los Angeles that includes your unique voting link to Election Buddy. Do not delete this email until you have cast your votes. After carefully reviewing the candidate information, please cast your vote using the Election Buddy Ballot. You may vote for nine (9) candidates, or less than nine (9) candidates, but not more. The ballot is a closed one; all voting is strictly confidential and your vote will be anonymous. Votes will be tabulated by Election Buddy. What do you pledge to deliver for BAFTA Los Angeles in 2015 if elected as a Board Member? (Limit 50 words) In addition to my current volunteer roles, which I will continue, I pledge to work on behalf of the Los Angeles membership in representing and promoting our events and how we support BAFTA worldwide, bringing greater recognition for BAFTA and greater cooperation amongst the branches. Board Members have a responsibility to the organization. What fundraising experience do you have that would benefit BAFTA Los Angeles if elected as a Board Member? (Limit 50 words) Based upon my relationship with United Airlines, I am the person who introduced BAFTA Los Angeles to United Airlines, which has become the current airline sponsor of the Britannia Awards. I also brought in Mattel as a toy sponsor for the Academy’s annual holiday party for inner-city families. What do you believe are BAFTA Los Angeles’ primary and secondary goals as an Academy? (Limited 50 words) Primary goal: building the reputation and brand of BAFTA and the British Entertainment Industry through increased visibility and recognition for its members in all areas of Film, Television and Games. Secondary goal: Networking and providing professional opportunities for members which could lead to more British produced product in the US. Please provide a statement of up to 200 words in support of your application to the BAFTA Los Angeles Board describing how your professional experience and contributions as a Director would help the Academy reach these goals (please limit to 200 words): While donating over 125 hours annually for BAFTA Los Angeles in many different areas of business affairs including our major events, vendor and sponsorship contracts, I have encountered a wide range of personalities and issues. Throughout, I have been always been able to protect the interests of the Academy and its membership. At times, I have had to deal with the leadership at BAFTA in London and have always been successful in finding common ground as the Academy builds its worldwide brand. It’s a time of transition and growth for BAFTA and it is important that our interests are carefully represented and communicated at the Board level with London. With a proven track record of my dedication to the Academy, my skills will continue to be an asset in building unity and greater collaboration in the best interests of the Academy. I hope to lay the foundation for the future where BAFTA Los Angeles has a place at the table in London. Business and Legal Affairs may not be the most sexy part of our industry, but it is an integral part of every film and television project ever made and someone needs to protect BAFTA in the same manner. STEPHEN ENDELMAN Board of Directors Election 2014 Name: Stephen Endelman Membership Number: 2161 Number of years as a BAFTA Los Angeles Member: 8 Current Profession with position (title) and company?: Composer, Endelman Productions Primary Sector of Work Film and TV (Film, TV, Games, Digital Media, Other – please specify) List any professional organizations in which you have served or held office, particularly citing not-for- profit Boards: Big Brother Little Sister Ascap SCL Professional background, expertise and/or credits (please limit to 200 words): I have been scoring for film and Television for the past 20 years. I began with A Bronx Tale and Imaginary Crimes and then went on to a 10 picture deal at Miramax and composed the music for The Englishman Who Went Up A Hill But Came Down A Mountain and Flirting With Disaster and many more. I have worked with such Luminaries as Bruce Beresford, Irwin Winkler, David O’ Russsell to name but a few. I just finished working on my second picture with Pierce Brosnan which will be in theaters early 2015. I also have a successful career in TV scoring this year 21 episodes of Chasing Life for ABC and I’ve just begun Hindsight for VH1. I’m also writing a musical and I write concert music. What do you pledge to deliver for BAFTA Los Angeles in 2015 if elected as a Board Member? (Limit 50 words) I’m a people person and a great networker so I pledge to develop closer ties to the film and TV community. I also love to mentor younger professionals especially ones who like me took the risk travel across the ocean to develop their careers here in the US. Board Members have a responsibility to the organization. What fundraising experience do you have that would benefit BAFTA Los Angeles if elected as a Board Member? (Limit 50 words) I ran a non for profit youth opera company in the UK we raised back in 1991 100k from Bankers Trust and other organizations. I would pledge to go out and try to raise money for our outreach programs which I think are vital to any responsible organization. What do you believe are BAFTA Los Angeles’ primary and secondary goals as an Academy? (Limited 50 words) Broadcast education to its members but more than that to be beacon to the film industry at large as an organization of excellence and outreach.
