Our church, supermarkets, shops, doctor, dentist, chiropractor and library are all in Broadstone, where we regularly vis t and we are part of that community not that of Creekmoor. We therefore want to continue to vote for Broadstone councillors, so that we can continue to have a say in our own area. https://consultation.lgbce.org.uk//node/print/informed-representation/2721 12/12/2013 Local Government Boundary Commission for England Consultation Portal Page 2 of 2 https://consultation.lgbce.org.uk//node/print/informed-representation/2721 12/12/2013 Fuller, Heather From: Evison, Alison Sent: 07 January 2014 11:13 To: Kingsley, Paul Cc: Fuller, Heather Subject: FW: Dorset - Poole area proposed boundary changes Follow Up Flag: Follow up Flag Status: Flagged From: Tony Preston Sent: 05 January 2014 10:52 To: Evison, Alison Subject: Dorset - Poole area proposed boundary changes Dear Alison, I understand that the Government Boundary Commission are looking at moving parts of Broadstone into the Creekmoor ward, my family & I live in an area called Pinesprings within the Broadstone area which under the current proposals would be split into two distinct areas & would see the part we live in fall under a Creekmoor ward. We would like to say that we are strongly opposed to the potential boundary ward changes based upon the following :‐ We very much feel allied to the Broadstone area, as our Doctors are there, our banks are there, we shop there, and we use the Post Office & the Library facilities & much more. Pinesprings was designed & built as a complete entity & should not be split up. Broadstone & Creekmoor are not only separated by natural terrain but also by the Castlemain Trailway. Our son until recently was schooled in Broadstone schools. Broadstone has a strong community feel to it, this should not be undermined. We feel very proud to be part of Broadstone & its community, by moving our part of Broadstone into Creekmoor would I feel make us feel like outsiders. 1 Please would you reconsider your current proposals to move parts of Broadstone to within the Creekmoor ward & seek alternative solutions as suggested by the local Lib Dem & Conservative councillors who both have workable solutions that keep Broadstone intact – as it should be! Kind Regards Anthony, & Joanna Preston. 2 Kingsley, Paul From: Fuller, Heather Sent: 29 October 2013 08:42 To: Kingsley, Paul Subject: FW: POOLE WARD BOUNDARIES REVIEW Categories: Poole From: John Probert Sent: 28 October 2013 10:17 To: Reviews@ Cc: Subject: POOLE WARD BOUNDARIES REVIEW Dear Sirs, The Local Government Boundaries Commission is currently reviewing ward boundaries in Poole. We elect Members of Parliament on the basis if single-member constituencies where each elector has one vote. Is there any reason why "one member one vote" cannot also apply to the election of councillors in the Borough of Poole? Yours faithfully, John Probert 1 Fuller, Heather From: Dr Ramsden Sent: 03 January 2014 17:11 To: Reviews@ Subject: Poole Sir Having lived on Oakley Hill, for the last 2½ years, I wish to ask that the Commission gives serious thought to restoring the area where we live to Wimborne. The postal address is Wimborne and there can be no doubt that the vast majority of residents regard Wimborne as their town and as such conduct most of their business there. Speaking for my wife and myself, 85‐90% of our regular shopping is done in Wimborne, our G.P.’s surgery is in Wimborne, we are members of a Church in Wimborne. On top of that the public transport links to Poole are poor, being subject to two circuitous routes through housing developments, and do not take in either the hospital or the railway station. I recognize, of course, that the River Stour offers an apparently convenient boundary, but by the same token there is a significant band of land, between Merley and Broadstone, which would serve just as well, no less clearly and make much greater sense. Since I cannot conceive that anyone in their right mind would try to pretend that we lived other than in Wimborne, please acknowledge this reality by adjusting the boundary appropriately. Yours faithfully Dr. J. T. Looking at your website it appears that the current line proposed keeps Sorrel Gardens within the Broadstone ward. I understand that certain political groups may be seeking to propose that Sorrel Gardens, and other roads within the immediate Pinesprings neighbourhood locality, should be moved from the Broadstone to the Creekmore ward. I have seen no evidence of this and to date the Council’s Report that is due to go to Full Council on 17th December 2013 is not currently available to view. I am totally opposed to any proposal that feels it can justify moving Sorrel Gardens to be within the Creekmoor ward. Creekmoor is a completely separate neighbourhood to that of Broadstone, which Sorrel Gardens and the Pinesprings neighbourhood is closely associated with. There is a distinct natural geological separation between Sorrel Gardens and other Pinespring Roads with that of Creekmoor. The Pinesprings development was an extension to Broadstone, not Creekmoor, and should remain as a single neighbourhood rather than being split. The majority of the children attend the primary, secondary and upper schools within Broadstone and as such play a significant role in supporting many events in Broadstone as well as the local businesses after school and at weekends. Many of us are affiliated to the Broadstone Residents Association and Neighbourhood Watch scheme. Public transport routes directly connect Pinesprings residents to Broadstone, there is direct route from Creekmoor. We support local businesses in Broadstone, it is a rare example of a thriving centre with a good range of independent retailers, all of whom rely on our continuing trade. Your previous Report did not support any change and I fail to see why this is again being considered. There has been no major new development in either ward that has dramatically altered the population that creates a potential in balance in the local population ratio to the number of councillors. Such a change may also affect voter turnout as many residents would not wish to go in to Creekmoor to vote. Please take these comments as my formal response to your consultation. I await your response on these issues. If indeed there are discrepancies could I suggest that to avoid the risk of legal challenge and give residents a reasonable time period to respond the deadline be put back. 3 years ago my partner Pippa Longley and I relocated from Creekmoor to Broadstone Pine Springs Being a physically fit person I run through areas of Creekmoor and Broadstone every day ‐ I used to compete at international level ‐ and am always struck by how the natural terrain separates out the 2 geographic areas. Creekmoor is a distinctive geographic area in its own right as is Broadstone. What both my partner and I find so positive is the Community feel of Broadstone. This is evident to us in the local businesses /schools/ groups in Broadstone including our doctors' surgery, local amateur dramatics, sports centre, banks and the large number of local shops, all of which we support. In the short time we have lived here we have developed a tremendous affinity with Broadstone and would strongly oppose Pine Springs being hived off. We have both studied the literature which has arrived from the local Lib Dem Party and very much at the last minute from the local Conservative Party. We are in favour of a proposal which has enmerged to have 2 wards for Broadstone ‐ East and West ‐ both with 2 councillors, and keeping Pine Springs in what would be Broadstone West. To restate, we strongly oppose Pine Springs being hived off to be part of the Creeemoor Ward.
