THE KLONDIKE SUN WEDNESDAY, October 1, 2014 P3 Classical Music meets beat box for a fine evening Story & Photo by dan davidson Classical music with a hip- hop backbeat is not what you might usually associate with a sedate sounding string trio, but John Littlejohn (violin), Anthony Cheung (viola) and Alex Cheung (cello) manage to make it seem entirely natural. The only warning of the evening was given by Alex, who suggested that the beat-box noises they made to go with their playing might mean it would be best not to sit directly in front of them; there might be a bit of spray. The Vancouver based trio performs as Infinitus, pleasing their audience with a mixture of classical standards and original jazz/hip-hop arrangements and compositions, as well as accepting the challenge of taking audience requests during the second half of their show. They are touring the Yukon in support of their first self- titled CD. They have been working since they formed n in 2008, and have had 700 infinitus are john littlejohn (violin) , and anthony Cheung (cello) and alex Cheung (viola). outreach performances in schools, nursing homes, juvenile detention centres, and hospitals.
