Unveiling The New 2021 Models The All New 2022 Acura MDX SH-AWD STATUS: New for 2022 —The newest iteration of Acura’s cornerstone vehicle — arriving in early 2021 as a 2022 model — continues with room for up to seven passengers across three rows of seats. The styling is highlighted by an angular grille that’s similar to the one installed on the new-for-2021TLX.There’s a longer, lower and wider body and a new platform to which an equally new front (double- wishbone) suspension is attached. The MDX’s wheelbase has also been extended by three inches, which increases second- and third-row legroom. Interior fittings include a digital control panel, premium leather seat covers and wood-and-leather trimmed door panels, console and dashboard. Powertrain choices start with a 3.5-liter V-6 producing 290 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. Available this summer with the newType S trim is a turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 rated at 355 horsepower and 354 pound-feet. A 10-speed automatic transmission is linked to both engines. All-wheel-drive optional with the non-turbo V-6 but and standard in theType S. Every MDX comes with AcuraWatch driver-assist technologies, including road-departure mitigation, pedestrian detection and low-speed braking control. Base Price (including destination): $46,500 (est.) Ty pe: Full-size utility vehicle Engines (h.p.): 3.5-liter V-6 (290); 3.0-liter V-6, turbocharged (355) Drivetrain: All-wheel-drive Tr ansmission: 10-speed automatic Base mpg (city/highway/combined): 19/27/22 (3.5, est.) 2021 Acura RDX Base weight (lb.): 4,100 (est.) Advance SH-AWD Status: Acura’s redesign of the RDX utility vehicle for the 2019 model year injected a strong dose of styling to dovetail with its practical nature and stellar performance. The interior is as radically different as the outside, with a dashboard replete with swoops and swirls. A turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine delivers 272 horsepower through a 10-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel- drive is standard, while Super Handling All Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) is optional. In normal traction conditions it sends 70 percent of the engine’s torque to the rear wheels but can direct up to 100 percent to the outside rear wheel when turning. This yaw control increases cornering precision and stability. The stiff platform and sport-tuned suspension contribute to the vehicle’s exceptional ride and handling qualities, especially over choppy roads. Even the base RDX comes with dual-zone climate control, panoramic moonroof, 12-way power-operated and heated front seats, power tailgate and 19-inch wheels. The sharp-looking A-Spec trim adds more technology and unique exterior styling, although no more performance. The Advance trim level provides a head-up display (pertinent information is projected onto the windshield), active dampers that constantly adjust to varying road conditions, and a 16-speaker ELS-brand premium audio system. Base price (incl. destination): $39,200 Ty pe: Midsize utility vehicle Engine (h.p.): 2.0-liter I-4 (272) Tr ansmission: 10-speed automatic 2021 Acura TLX Drivetrain: Front- /all-wheel-drive Base MPG (city/highway/combined): 22/28/24 (FWD) Base weight (lb.): 3,785 Status: New for 2021 — Acura seems focused on changing buyers’ impressions of how a premium sport sedan should look and perform. Compared with the outgoing mode, there’s a nearly three-inch gain in length. Width increases by just over two inches and the distance between the front and rear wheels is up a not- insignificant 3.7 inches.TheTLX runs with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 272 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. Available this Summer Opt for theType S and you get a turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 with 355 horsepower and 354 pound-feet. Each engine uses a new 10-speed automatic transmission with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. The latest version of Acura’s Super Handling All-wheel-Drive is optional with the turbo 2.0 but is standard with the Type S and its V-6. BaseTLXs come with a number of dynamic safety technologies (e.g. emergency braking, lane-keeping assist and road-departure mitigation). The Technology, A-Spec and Advantage trims add plenty of comfort content, but the Type S is the only model that gets sport-appearance body trim, high-performance 20-inch wheels, leather- and suede-trimmed seats and Brembo-brand brakes. Base price (incl. destination): $38,500 Ty pe: Midsize sedan Engine (h.p.): 2.0-liter I-4, turbocharged (272); 3.0-liter V-6, turbocharged (355) Transmission: 10-speed automatic Drivetrain: Front- /all-wheel-drive Base MPG (city/highway/combined): 22/30/25 (est.) UNVEILING THE NEW 2021 MODELS 2021 Honda CR-V STATUS: The fifth-generation CR-V continues as one of the most popular members of the compact-utility-vehicle segment. Although not the first such model in its class (the Toyota RAV4 hybrid has been around for a while) the CR-V hybrid has many attributes for buyers to consider, including a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors that generate a combined 212 horsepower. That compares with the gasoline CR-V’s 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that puts out 190 horses. The Hybrid’s battery is positioned beneath the cargo floor, which allows the 60/40 rear-seat to fold flat. Both powerplants are connected to continuously variable transmissions. Front-wheel-drive is standard with gasoline CR-Vs, while an upgrade to all-wheel-drive is a relatively affordable option. The Hybrid has standard all-wheel-drive. All CR-Vs come with Honda Sensing, which includes active-safety technologies such as emergency braking, road- departure mitigation, lane-keeping assist and traffic-sign recognition. Base price (incl. destination): $26,500 Ty pe: Compact utility vehicle Engine (h.p.): 1.5-liter I-4, turbocharged (190); 2.0-liter I-4 with electric motors (212) Tr ansmission: Continuously variable (CVT) Layout: Front- /all-wheel-drive Base mpg (city/highway/combined): 26/32/28 (1.5, FWD) Base weight (lb.): 3,310 2021 Honda Ridgeline STATUS: Restyled for 2021 —The second-generation Honda Ridgeline.
