Officers Keen to Identify Driver of Car in Connection with Five Oaks Fatal Collision

The dark coloured vehicle – possibly a BMW, a Vauxhall or an Alfa Romeo – was captured on CCTV driving east out of Five Oaks on the A264 on Thursday (17 August). At about 8.10pm, a green Ford Focus also travelling east came off the carriageway and into woodland, ending up on its roof. No other vehicles were involved in the collision. 19-year-old Fraser Hallam, from Pulborough, who was a passenger in the Focus, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. A second passenger, a 19-year-old man from Billingshurst, suffered serious injuries. The driver, a 22-year-old man from Billingshurst, sustained minor injuries. He was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been released under investigation. Sergeant Alan Spicer, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We would like to speak to the driver of this unknown vehicle which was travelling east on the A264 just prior to the collision.
