Technology continues to advance at record speed and we appreciate you taking the time to slow down and smell the roses with us. Thank you for making your memories with us here at the Cape Cod Melody Tent and South Shore Music Circus. It’s because of your loyalty that we continue to do what we do. It is our pleasure to welcome back many performers who consider our venues more than just a stop on tour but a home away from home. They appreciate just as well as we do, the intimate concert setting experience our venues bring with our patrons. Artists like Lee Brice, Brett Eldredge, Chris Botti, and Jim Gaffigan are just a few of the many returning performers under the tents this summer. At the same time, the summer is a time to try new experiences and we invite you to do so by seeing our newcomers at the venue, artist like Brothers Osborne, Foreigner, and Squeeze. We’d like to thank our patrons for keeping their money where their heart is. You’ve made an investment in both a memorable night out and also in your community. We use proceeds from ticket sales to support non-profit arts and education organizations throughout the South Shore and Cape Cod. Local art, music classes, and town libraries flourish because of you. In recent years, we’ve donated over $4.5 million. Thank you for embracing what makes our communities unique and supporting independent arts organizations. When you shop local you nurture community. Success at our venues is ensured by our loyal Inner Circle, Gold Circle Clubs and also our loyal employees. It’s the relationships that have been formed over the years between both that has people returning year after year. We truly appreciate you all! We hope that you continue to come out and enjoy our world class entertainment with us each year. For additional information regarding club memberships, please check in at the box office or on our websites for details. We thank you for joining us for the 2019 season and going forward. You ROCK! SOUTH SHORE MUSIC CIRCUS 9 CAPE COD MELODY TENT SOUTH SHORE MUSIC CIRCUS 10 CAPE COD MELODY TENT Make Your MEMORIES… Robert Cray, Marc Cohn, Blind Boys of Alabama MUSIC CIRCUS: SATURDAY, JUNE 8, 2019 Robert Cray has been bridging the lines between Blues, Soul and R&B for the past four decades, with five Grammy wins and over 20 acclaimed albums. For his latest project, Robert Cray & Hi Rhythm, the blues Hall of Famer traveled to Memphis with his friend, renowned Grammy award-winning producer Steve Jordan, to make a classic soul album with Hi Rhythm, the band that helped create that sound. During the 90s the Cray band was featured in concert with artists like Clapton, The Stones, John Lee Hooker, BB King and Bonnie Raitt. Marc Cohn solidified his place as one of this generation’s most compelling singer-songwriters, combining the precision of a brilliant tunesmith with the passion of a great soul man after winning a Grammy for his soulful ballad “Walking in Memphis.” Rooted in the rich ground of American rhythm and blues, soul and gospel and possessed of a deft storyteller’s pen, he weaves vivid, detailed, often drawn-from-life tales that evoke some of our most universal human feelings: love, hope, faith, joy, heartbreak. The Blind Boys of Alabama have the rare distinction of being recognized around the world as both living legends and modern-day innovators. They are not just gospel singers borrowing from old traditions; the group helped to define those traditions in 20th century and almost single-handedly created a new gospel sound for the 21st. Since the original members first sang together as kids at the Alabama Institute for the Negro Blind in the late 1930s (including Jimmy Carter, who leads the group today), the band has persevered through seven decades to become one of the most recognized and decorated roots music groups in the world.
