A BIG Bus Gate THANK YOU Shoppenhangers Thank you for organising the Christmas shoe boxes for Road Foodshare once again. We collected 162 ! That was an amazing number, people have been very kind. Please read more on page 8 We were able to give these to all the families with younger children who the charity is helping at this time, and certainly to all the families we support in the Cox Green area. These were received with much delight, as they were largely unexpected. The large number of boxes meant there were some left over after our food distributions over 23 & 24 Dec; happily Maidenhead Bridge Rotary Club knew of some other families who are experiencing some difficult times, and the remaining boxes were given by them to children this week. We are very grateful to everyone who contributed to this wonderful scheme. Although he could not give out the usual presents, he did let the children take a bag of sweets and the odd photo to bring a smile to their faces. There was also a Christmas stall, mulled wine and mince pies, hot chocolate and gingerbread men, to keep out the cold. We would like to thank everyone who attended this event. It was a great afternoon and we raised over £230 for the Centre. Thank You 3 Opening hours: 8am to 2pm Monday to Friday (term time only) Address: 51 Highfield Lane, Maidenhead SL6 3AX Contact: Linda on 01628 636715 Our Aims We offer a welcoming setting in which we enjoy seeing our children progress on their learning journey and grow as individuals. We aim to: Provide a friendly, safe, secure and stimulating environment in which your child can develop their independence and grow in confidence Enable learning through play in which the children are excited to learn at their own pace Provide a wide range of activities and experiences to help your child’s development throughout the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Provide positive role models and experiences Work in partnership with parents/carers to help your child learn and develop 4 MARRIAGE MATTERS If you live in Cox Green and are considering getting married in church, it may be helpful to know the procedure for those living in this parish. Anyone who lives within the boundaries of our parish, or who is on our Church Electoral Roll, or has a ‘qualifying connection’ is entitled to be married at the Parish Church. The Church of the Good Shepherd is located in the Community Centre on Highfield Lane. However, as our Parish Church is based in the Community Centre, we have the somewhat unusual legal situation whereby couples from Cox Green may be married either at the Good Shepherd, or in one of the following churches in our neighbouring parishes: St Mary's, White Waltham, All Saint’s, Boyne Hill, St Michael's, Bray, St John's, Littlewick Green, St James the Less, Stubbings. Whichever church is chosen, couples should make contact with the Revd Joan Hicks (Vicar of Cox Green) in the first instance. If you would like to be married in one of our neighbouring parishes, we will make the necessary arrangements with them.
