The AFL boys were in a tight contest throughout the game however ran away with the win in the last quarter. It was a special win for the boys with the highlight being Tyler Galligan’s goal from the pocket in front of the swarm. The volleyballers were victorious against a tough Villa side. Adam Green again played another stand out game. The cricketers unfortunately lost their ‘premiership game’ against Villa. Not enough runs on the board cost the boys however special mention must go to Tom Philp for an outstanding bowling performance and a tidy batting display. Marist College Ashgrove - The Buzz - Page 3 From the College Sport Captain This week Tom Collier sat down with our Sport School Officer Matt Ingram and Year 8A Cricket Player Harry Frost. TIME OUT WITH ... MATT INGRAM - SPORT SCHOOL OFFICER What is your proudest moment in coaching/playing/work you do? For a number of years, I was fortunate enough to coach an age-group of boys through a large part of their school Rugby and into Colts at club. My proudest achievement has been witnessing their development, and achievement, within the game culminating in a few premierships and some boys going on to pretty big things. My pride comes from the fact that they enjoyed it enough to keep playing through school together and beyond, and that I was a small part of allowing that to happen. To me, mateship is the most satisfying aspect of being involved in competitive sport and is something that separates it from any other pursuit in life. If you were to give one bit of advice to any young player starting to play, what would it be? To just enjoy the ride of playing sport with your mates, new and old. As someone who had to give it up while I was at school because of serious injury I can honestly say that it should just all be about enjoying yourself. If you do that, then everything else, like performance and selections, look after themselves. Regardless of the level you play at, playing sport for your school are the moments that you remember for years with your mates when you leave, and that’s worth more than anything.
